Hi! I'm new here and couldn't find an answer to this anywhere else--I guess it's a pretty specific question--

I'm making a batch of soap right now, and after I poured lye into the water I stirred it with a new stirring implement that was plated with some gold colored metal that I'm realizing I should have tested before dunking into the lye... it stripped off a bit of the gold coating, about 2 square inches of coating probably. I was wondering if that is enough to scrap the entire batch of lye or if it doesn't matter. It's a lot: 12 lbs of lye, 26 lbs of water, enough for 400 bars of soap. Any thoughts?
