So how do you make the infusion?

My version of Calendula infused oil is this. 16oz Olive Oil and 1oz of Calendula petals. I place them in my crock pot on the lowest setting. I let it sit like that......except I turn off the crock pot for about 5 minutes about every half hour......just so it doesn't get too hot. I do this for about 2 hrs. Then I cool. I sometimes leave the petals in it for storage until I am going to use it.

Thanks for the info..... I just got my shipment in and have been wanting to try calendula for soapingthank you so very much!!

This is exactly how I make mine too.

I infuse my own fresh petals in olive oil by packing a jar at least half full of petals then filling with olive oil. I then let it sit in my sunny window for three weeks and shake it every few days. Makes a lovely yellow oil. Some recipes suggest changing the petals after a week to refresh the intensity by straining and readding new petals to the infusing oil. I haven't tried this yet but will when my calendulas bloom again in full.
