This is one stinky soap . . . FO is very strong and hopefully will mellow as it cures. I only scented the base color anticipating brown because the FO contains vanilla. The unscented part is colored with a mix of TD & red clay.

Definitely got more 'swirl-age' this time but am kinda peeved about the stearic spots. So far my drop swirls haven't turned out the way I imagined they would. Think my next attempt will be an old-fashioned ITP swirl or maybe a dandelion swirl.

I love fig scents. I haven't ever smelled brown sugar and fig- sounds delicious. I love the color contrast you have! Drop swirls can be a little round and bloppy at times but I bet if you drop swirled, then did just a quick spoon swirl (slide a spoon into the batter and rotate it around horizontally once or twice- Celine's videos show it well), you would get some nice patterns out of it.

SHe does it right around 15:10

newbie - bloppy is a good description for these swirls . . . I was really hoping for more delicate, wispy swirls if you know what I mean.

I'm finally getting braver about working with thin trace but just not getting the results I want yet. I actually tried to combine drop swirl with hanger swirl in this batch but still not satisfied.

Love your soap, the color is perfect for fig! I've been wanting to try a brown sugar & fig FO, strong is always good, do you mind if I ask where you purchased it?

Thank you! I still haven't tried Peak's and have heard very good things about many of their FO's. I have also heard the Chemistry store mentioned. I am trying to do a self imposed FO moratorium, I keep telling myself no more!

Good luck with the FO moratorium! I just ordered a couple more from Brambleberry so I'm obviously lacking self-control ;) Couldn't resist the Chipotle Caramel and Saffron & Honey after reading reviews. Anyone tried them yet?

I really like how that came out! It reminds me of cheesecake brownies that were at a cafe that I worked at years ago. Now I am getting hungry!

You're on the right track! In my experience it is easy to get nice wispy swirls if you pour at a very thin trace. I always use a recipe that is slow to trace if I am going for that look but, soap batter sometimes has it's own ideas and sometimes I have to change the plan part way through if it traces too quickly. I'm not always able to think quickly of my feet though...I get frustrated when my soaping doesn't go as planned. Oh well...great learning moments!
