Well this morning I bit the bullet and purchesed Soapmaker 3 AND a set of MrDoright or MrDoGood (Whatever they are called!) molds! I got the 3-4lb. set with 2 molds and the one for cutting soap and the cutter. They say non-stick but are they really? I'm thinking press n' Seal them anyway??
Anywhoo, Big day in this house!!!

Amanda: That sounds exciting. I've been seriously considering that program also. Please report on how you like it and your new molds.

Woo-hoo! I just placed an order with WSP. I've never heard of those molds, I'm going to have to look them up. Also, I too will be interested to hear how you like Soapmaker 3.

I, too, am interested in how you like SM3. I don't intend to sell like a business (though donations like $1/oz would be graciously accepted). But, if ever the selling bug bit me, I would want to know if SM3 is all it's cracked up to be.

Also, I have a MrDoRight mold, the slab mold that holds WAY more soap than I can ever make and don't know what i was thinking when I got that one. All I can say is wait until your soap starts to pull away from the sides before you attempt to remove it if you don't line the mold. Otherwise, the soap is very difficult to remove from the mold. This is just my experience.

Good luck with both. I am awaiting my Brambleberry box so I can make my Lambeau Lemon soap to goie to all my Packer family!

I love my MrDooright molds, I have the 4 to 5 lb ones, and the 1 to 2 lb ones.

I also love the software....BUT, I don't key in every soap batch I use to keep track of inventory.

I key in all my oils, lye and FO and that kind of thing, so that when I key in my recipe...it will tell me my price per bar.

Its worth it to me just for that.

Does it have a lye calc in it and all that too? So that it's a one stop shop and keeps a record of recipes, cost, etc.? If so, I'd love that.

It has a lye calculator , it tells you how much FO to use , the cost of the bars etc , if you use packaging it will keep track of that .It keeps track of everything you have for soapmaking from the mold you want to use to your powdered additives , oils, fo , eo,s etc . I would be lost with out it . If you print your recipe out , it will give the the INCI names and the soap qualities on the sheet .You can keep notes on each batch etc .

I have those molds and line them with quilters mylar ( pattern making plastic sheets ) .I have used shelf liner too , but the mylar works very well and it reuseable . I might have to try the press and seal though on one of them.

Kitn or any other SM3 user,

Does SM3 account for superfatting? I've read in previous post that SoapCalc does not.

I'm very jealous, Amanda!

are those the molds that are that high density plastic that are supposed to be liner free? the white ones?

often wondered how nonstick they actually were.

congrats, amanda! let us know how you like them :)

It does account for the superfat , whatever superfat you like to use , you set it to that # and it drops the lye amount down .It is a so much fun to play with this program , you can learn a lot about the oil you use and which ones really make a difference to your soap qualities .

SoapCalc does account for superfatting. We are talking about the same SoapCalc, right? http://soapcalc.net/calc/SoapCalcwp.asp ? In the upper right (section 4) there's a box where you can enter the Super Fat %.

I thought that you could add your superfat in, but when you printed the recipe the graph did not reflect any changes involving the superfat for the conditioning, cleaning, etc. values. Clear as mud?

I'll try to find the post where I read that, cause it could be all in my imagination!
