Hi everyone

I'm Melanie. I soap a bit, but I'm primarily a sustainable, green, frugal lifestyle writer at the Frugal Kiwi out of Northland, New Zealand. A lot of my readership is from the US and people ask me the best place to buy soap making supplies. I can give good answers for NZ, but I don't know for the US and am not about to pay international shipping to find out.

The sensible thing seemed to be to ask the experts-you-so I'd love to hear what you have to say about it. If there are great suppliers in different regions, that is great too. I'll take notes and pass the info on when people ask.

All opinions appreciated.

Cheers from Down Under,

Thanks. There is "google up suppliers randomly" and then there is "actual human people have ordered from this business and found them to be satisfactory in both products and customer service"- a big difference!

Oh no I understand, but I live near a big city. So I can make 10 small orders and then find things like my oils cheap at a local supplier.

Peak too - it says candles but they have lots of soaping goodies.

I was not impressed with Oregon Trail at all. They are local to me but their customer service is lacking and the 4 scents I got are nasty - the combo makes it so I'll never buy from there again. Good CS would make all the difference.

We have a search function here too where 'actual humans' have already taken the time to answer this question in abundant. You will find it at the top of the page between recipes and memberlist.

Even though you are already a soaper, as an actual human you can read read read here and find the answer! And learn something extra along the way!

And, by the way, google works just fine - if you find a name that looks interesting, search it here...

Or... you could encourage them to visit us here and find the relevant information themselves - along with lots of other stuff. Filtering it for them may not really be the best approach.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. My own experience with them (online) has been very good with only one minor problem to speak of, which was cleared up promptly, and I've had no problems with them otherwise or since (I've been using them for the past 4 years). They carry at least 5 of my favorite 'keeper' FO's that I'd hate to ever be without.
