My boyfriend had a specific beer he loves and I want to surprise him and make some beer soap out of it. My question is... do you just replace the water with beer in your recipe and leave the rest the same? Also does it keep the beer scent at all? I don't want to make it if it isn't going to smell like his beer. My basic soap recipe is the usual cp soap with OO, CO, PO, and Castor. Thanks :)

Cool... I checked out both threads and the tutorial. Think I know how I'm gonna do it now. Thanks for all the help :D

You're welcome! :D But it wasn't much help. I just pointed out a couple of threads on the topic.

My bil and a friend says the beer soap is the best soap I make. The funny thing is it's only Crisco, olive oil, coconut oil and castor oil. Let us know how your batch turns out.

i made an unscented batch last week with Corona as all the liquid (yes, let it go COMPLETELY flat!). it works better if the beer is icy cold, as it will REALLY heat up the lye mixture.

i added oatmeal and some green clay for a swirl. it has retained a LOT of the lovely beer smell, rather to my surprise. i hope the scent doesn't evaporate with the cure, as i LOVE the scent.

i've used FO's with the few batches i've made, so i can't say if the beer scent stays or not. i do agree with what's been posted about making sure your beer is FLAT before you begin. i made a batch last night with guinness draught and i thought it was flat...it wasn't. thank goodness my lye pitcher is deep and nothing flowed over!

one more thing, be prepared for a horrible smell when you add your lye to the beer. i've started opening my back door when i make beer soap. man...it stinks!!

I'm beginning to like the smell of the lye and beer  ! I tried a batch with Blue Moon, and added Orange EO and it smells great. I didn't add any scent to the guiness batch and it doesn't smell much at all, nor did it retain that gorgeous dark colour. Next time I might add a touch of black oxide to it and maybe an oatmeal FO?

Lol...well I must have an unusual sniffer because I just put the lye with the beer and I think it smells really nice actually. I'm excited to make my first batch, it took forever for the beer to go flat it seemed :) Will let you guys know how it turned out tomorrow. Thanks again for all the help.

If you boil the beer down it will help it to go flat and concentrate the beer. I made strong lye solution with water and then added the beer "syrup" when I mixed the lye and oils together. Smells nice!

I made my beer soap last night. It took a lot longer to trace than my other soap batches, and it didn't start to heat up in the mold until this morning. I was scared I'd done something wrong and it wasn't going to, but it's heating up now...wheeewww!! Is it normal for beer soap to take longer to go through these stages?

I made a beer soap and it started gelling about 5-10 minutes after I put it in the mold. I've never seen gel that quick! It may have been the FO I added though.

Well here it is, I think it turned out really nice. It doesn't smell like beer, but it does have a nice scent to it. The white top is totally by accident because I didn't add any coloring. I think it's cool though because it looks like a glass of beer...lol. Can't wait for it to cure so I can try it out. Thanks for all the help and advice :) I can't figure out how to post a picture in this thread so here's the link:

I just tried out my first beer soap (it's just 2 days shy of 4 weeks cure). OMG!! It's the smoothest, creamiest, most wonderful soap I've tried. WOW!!!!
