I boil the beer for about five minutes and then refrigerate it overnight before adding the lye. I have only done scented soaps with beer, so I don't know how it would smell otherwise. My favorite was Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale, which I scented with a blend of vanilla fo and cinnamon leaf essential oil. Anyone who has purchased beer soaps from me has given rave reviews about the abundant lather. I mostly soap with GM, so having a "beer adventure" every now and then just adds to the fun. I have never had a volcano or any other unfortunate event with it, but I soap it pretty cold.

I made my first beer soap last weekend with Guinness. I did not scent it. I am already using it and I looove it. Now I know why people like it so much. I have to make more.

The Beer Soap Company

I ran across a company out of Florida that makes an astounding number of beer soaps. I haven't tried any but they are inspiring..I have no idea what technique they use either..

Think I'll try a batch this week :)
