Beer Soap, Wine Soap, Pepsi Soap?

OK I know you can make soap with wine & beer but how about soda?
I had someone ask me at a craft show if I could make Pepsi soap or Coca Cola Soap and that started me thinking (God Help Us All

Would you make it just the same as beer soap - letting it go FLAT, FLAT, FLAT and even more FLAT?? Or is there just to much sugar in there to be worth the volcanic chance?

Any advice out there?

I haven't tried either. You could always try a small batch. You might try diet cola if you are worried about the sugar content.

In addition to sugar, you may also want to consider the acidity of soft drinks, even flat soft drinks will still contain a fair amount of carbonic acid. Some food for thought: :razz:

I am not sure if the person inquiring wanted a soap made of soda, or if they just wanted one that smelled like soda, but there are fragrance oils in soda scents, too.

I've made rootbeer soaps & always let it go flat. I put the soap in the freezer for a few hours after molding so it doesn't overheat.

Like jenny said you have to let to soda go flat and freezing them after molding is a good idea
But alas. My husband stole a bunch of bars to give out for samples (he doesn't understand a full size bar is not a sample) so tonight I gotta do 4 pounds worth of restock

I had actually been thinking of a root beer soap the other day, I am happy to hear that someone with more experience then me has done it and that I am not completely nuts for thinking of it (I am completely nuts for others reasons ;-) ).

Yep. You can do 1/2 water, 1/2 flat rootbeer if you'd rather.

I use home brewed rootbeer that my FIL makes, and the scent survives. It's not strong, but it's there.

I've never used store bought rootbeer, but I've been told by people that do, that the scent doesn't make it through.

Cut some of the ends and less perfect bars for samples and show them to him and tell him that he can give those out, but to keep his mitts off your full sized bars....
