Thanks for letting us join you on this journey, Neil. It's really interesting & gives me a true appreciation of how easy I have it when I open a bottle of lye & pour it!!!

I guess the final lye content from ash is why soap was so unpredictable & downright scarey way back when. It must've been really hard - a lot of trial & error to get a good, strong lye.

I wonder if the lye strength differs from different types of woods, or does all wood ashe yield the same strength lye? Hmmm. I'm not curious enough to try it, though. :lol:
