We just lost one of our kitty kats. We are down to Mr Grumpy, ManKatt, Twigs and Nelly. Fatback had a short but good life and was a favorite of my wife, Pam.

This is for all of you who have lost a beloved pet.

At Rainbow Bridge

By the edge of a wood, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
when their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met:
together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
the time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
and then, side by side,
they cross over . . . together.

So sorry to hear about your Kitty Dennis. Sympathy to your wife Pam.

Thanks for the rainbow bridge poem, I lost my bun in Sept and still so upset.

I'm so sorry! It is a bitter-sweet loss when a pet crosses that bridge. Give your wife a hug for me, and remember those good times!

I'm very sorry for your loss. Your kitty will be in my prayers & you and your wife will be in my thoughts today.

I'm so sorry about your kitty <3 A few years back, the ex and I lost two of our dogs to old age-I know the feeling <3

Sorry about your kitty, Dennis. Your poem reminds me of the ending of Where The Red Fern Grows.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and your family.

I'm sorry. It's such a painful loss that just hurts so much. I've read that poem many times and it always hits home.

Thank you all. We have a wonderful vet, very caring and professional and eased what had to be done. Now the other critters are wandering around the house looking for Fatback. Her sister seems most upset. Time is a great healer.
