After our amazed viewing of Barbara AL's swirl work, this was our best first attempt. Even with me watching (mmmm, breathing down Billie's neck) and trying to help, it was still a little difficult. We couldn't get the hang of placing the X's evenly over where each bar will fall. I think next time we can mark this better on the wood mold as a guide. They don't quite look like Barbara AL's, but turned out OK we think.

We scented with Blue Sugar and colored with neon blue, turquoise and black. We have no idea where the turquoise went??? No snickering now, at least not in front of us.

The whole batch

Another gorgeous one! I've been wanting to try Blue sugar. Is it nice? LOVE the swirls too!

Wow, is all I can say.
Where is this Barbara ALs tutorial you're talking about?

Thanks. Not sure Babs has created a tutorial of her style. It seems to be some sort of large "X"s of color over each bar area that is then swirled in a spiral. We do have a video of our own for what I call the Billie Swirls. It usually creates some very nice swirls. You might want to take a look at it.

I'd love a tutorial on this swirl. <beg> Gorgeous.

the swirls kinda remind me of the effect they use on tv when they'd blur and make wavy the pic on the screen for a dream sequence. i love them!!!

My 6 yr old just saw the pictures as I was looking at them and said "those swirls are neat!"

I agree! Good job!
