For my recipe I used 1 T paprika and 1/2 tsp of turmeric, so that's about a 6:1 ratio. I figured out way back that it only takes a small amount of turmeric to get a nice yellowish color and that too much makes an ugly brown. But experience is the best teacher. :)

Apricot Color - UPDATED PIC

Okay, so I just took my mold out of the oven....I must say, since I started putting my mold in the oven I can unmold a whole lot faster. I took the advise of some on the forum and used 1 tsp or Tumeric and 2 tbsp of Paprika (5 lb batch) and it turned out great! I have speckles all throughout the soap but I actually like that. Here is a picture of the soap:

Is there any concern about using paprika due to its heat?

I know people use turmeric soap for treating skin issues so will the properties in paprika (heat) transfer through the CP process?

I am curious because i want to color my next soap naturally and was considering using either turmeric, annatto, or paprika.

thanks

I've used all three, and haven't had any issue at all with any kind of heat.
They're all lovely! Paprika for me doesn't retain color as well as the others over time.

Sometimes when I add paprika I feel like it looks a little grainy. You could do the carrot thing. Use organic baby food and then boast about how the pureed carrots add beta caratene and antioxidents etc.... LOL My carrot soap always looks so pretty. I use the carrots for half of my water then add a few tablespoons at trace.

I got a lovely peach color with red palm oil..

I have done this too but it faded quite a lot over time, even when kept in a dark box.

I've had very good results with oil infused with annatto seeds.

I'm happy to hear that, I made a batch (my first one :p ) with red palm oil and it came out much darker than I had hoped. I look forward to it lightening up some!
