ok, i think this was brought up before? but i had a customer ask if handmade soap is ok to use on privates, i said yes, its better than store bought chemical soap. anyone have sensitivity there from handmade soap, it wasnt pepermint or anyhting, it was scented with angel, whic is kinda perfumy.

I have always been one to have frequent yeast infections. I am sensitive to lots of things, which is why I started making my own lotions and soaps. I would think some FOs and Eos might create a problem. I always have two soaps in the shower. One w/fragrance and one not to wash my girlie. But that is just me.

 You know what I was just wondering the same thing.. because I used the soap I made on my girly parts and had some itching.. I figured it was the FO and will now not use it again down there.. It does no make me itch anywhere else though when I use.. So I figure, yes for some people have sensitivity down there ..

Edit:
Oh and forgot to add, I've never had issues with soaps down there.. never had not one yeast infection in my life

People do have sensitivities down there. We have different soaps in our shower for the various regions of our body.

Those we've found to be irritating are:
cirtrus
mint
clove
cinnamon

Yes, I had a stretch where I had yeast infections, my gyno told me NO fragrance soaps. The unscented should be just fine though. In general, I have no problems for the most part with scented soaps.

I've never experienced any sort of vaginal irritation or itching from any soap, but one of my online friends once made herself some lovely homemade cinnamon EO bath bombs and said that she thought she was going to die.

i haven't had any issues with it, but i would never let it "sit" in that area long enough to be irritating.

actually, it's quite the contrary. many who can tolerate commercial soaps down there find that real soap burns due to the high pH of the soap.

Back in the old days, when I used commercial soaps, I was constantly having issues down south. Since I began using only my own soap, no troubles. Ever. One note, though. Stay away from FO's. Use unscented or something lightly fragranced with an EO. Lavender is usually ok. The mints can give a little tingle, but I haven't experienced any irritation with them.

You know it's funny that this was brought up because I was just debating whether or not to post the same question.

What's weird is that every once in a while getting soap down there will give me an extreme itch/shock kind of thing JUST for a second until I wash it off, but what's weird is that it's only like every 5 years and it'll happen for a few days and then nothing. Last week it happened for the first time with one of my soaps, but what's REALLY weird is that it's one that I've been using for a while with no issue, then for a few days STEER CLEAR OF THE PRIVATES. Actually even that's not correct, I just have to be careful, because the rest of the "lady parts" are fine.

I guess my body chemistry goes through some change for a short time where it becomes more sensitive... but I can't not wash... I have a rep to protect! ;)

I have had some issues with sensitivity down there with one certain soap I made. I wonder if it was lye heavy or something. I was kinda sore and raw for a couple days. Not pleasant. No problems since that soap, threw the whole batch out immediatly. I did not add a scent to it, so I know it wasnt that. hmmmmmm...............

huh, i haven't noticed anything for mine at all as far as that goes but I don't leave it on down there for long because I am prone to yeast things/rashes and so is my daughter. It's wash and rinse immediately. It's good to know thought in case someone comes back with that issue.

From a health point of view... These essential oils are also on the list for avoided exposer to mucous membranes... so be careful! that means nose, eyes, and yes...the lady parts as well! 8)

good topic ... I have never had a problem, personally...but I think mint soaps, I would just naturally avoid in that spot anyway.

I never thought of it before with anything else.... hmmmm

HEY!!! What are you doing here?!? Ladies only! (.... I feel so violated)

You really shouldn't be using anything but warm water in between your legs.
Soap, or any other washing product, even the ones especially designed for it, do more harm than good...
They change your natural ph value, which is fairly acidic. That's what's protecting your vagina from everything on the outside.
When you do wash with soap & other products, you have a lot more chance of getting bacterial and fungal infections.

I have only had one time I had a problem, and that was with a m&p citrus soap. I haven't had any problems with my cp soap.
