So remember all the drama yesterday with my Buttermilk soap??? I cut it and it was still zappy - but no biggie - just let it sit a little longer. Checked it this morning - still zappy - hmmmmm - get home tonight and it's still zappy. I think the buttermilk curdling didn't allow all the lye to saponify cause there are these teensy weensy little spots in the soap and they're zappy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Waaaaaaaaaa - whine & snivel.......

I'm pretty sure this batch is simply going in the garbage but I will still give it a couple of days to starighten itself out - bad soap babies......

My buttermilk and honey soap is still curing after 6 weeks. Most of my soaps have to be cut within 12 hours or they are too hard to cut. This soap is still kind of soft.
I don't milk soaps are going to be my thing.

Lindy I rebatched a zappy soap which had liquid lye pockets in it using your whipped method....so you can do that too yes?

I added no water based liquid, but for an original 800 gram oil batch (before I made it into soap, that is) I added about 30ml Sweet Almond Oil before whipping and it was not zappy the next day and is an awesome soap now!

I know you will lose your lovely swirl but the soap would still be nice...?

Tanya

Well it would appear that the zappiness is disappearing - don't know why or even what happened here. Once I have some time I'm going to disect one of the bars and look closer at it to see if there are pockets I'm not seeing. The soap was warm still when I cut so maybe I just slowed down the process :?: :?: :?:

Suggestions and comments on this would be really, really, welcome.

TIA

Topcat - if this dopesn't straighten out I will probably rebatch when I have a bit more time..... :?

zapping

I had my first intro to the zapping this weekend when i made my 2nd batch of soap HP that just woudn't stop zapping. i was exhausted and had to go to bed, so I gave up and threw it in the mold.

I tried it the day after before I cut it up and it didn't zap anymore. If its solid and you test it, it could still zap? I was wondering about that. This one didn't come out so good its rather ugly. Thinking I'd have to rebatch as long as its safe to use. I'm trying to get some pics up soon.

Hey Lindy.....

I have a couple of FO's that will do that.....cause a zap even though everything else is fine....zappiness usually disappears over several days.

I had a cinnamon coffee soap that I thought was ruined.....it straightened out over the course of a week.

Thanks everyone - this one is probably going to end as a rebatch - I just checked it again and it is still zapping - can't get at it right away so I'll let it sit there and glare at it occassionally.....

It makes me feel better to glare!! Even if it doesn't help the soap outcome....I certainly feel better!

 Glaring just feels good - but last night I grated the soap so that this weekend I can rebatch it.....I sure hope it still smells this wonderful when it's done - I may add morer cocoa and maybe some coffee to make it a mocha soap.... 8)
