Has anyone added their own aloe vera plants to their soap? Does it rot? I think I would be safe extracting the juice but what about the actual green skin? Would it rot in the soap? Or keep its colour? Or should I maybe dehydrate it? (the skin)

Thanks

I don't think I would use the skin. I would either peel it, or put it through a strainer after juicing. Likely the skin would turn brown if left in the mixture. Disclaimer: I have not done this for soap, just for home use.

ok, so I have one of the house plant types of aloe, the little ones. I ran some through my magic bullet back in Jan and made some soap with it. I pretty well liquified it, skin and all.

After making the soap it was green. Quite pretty actually. I ended up rebatching it and it stayed green. I just pulled a bar out and its turned more of a yellow color. Not brown per se, but it has lost the green.

So I guess we are safe to say it lasted 6 months? I wonder if an antioxidant was added to it if it would keep its green colour
