Ned the narwhal says hi. We are "abundantly" cleared up after 3 batches of shower steamers. Each set smells really nice.

Idk who recalls the "blue" kaolin clay i had purchased on Amazon, but do NOT use it in shower steamers. I made some absolutely gorgeous blue stink bombs. My guess is the colorant reacted witheither the alcohol or EO. Either way, they got put into a sealed bag and tossed.

I'm guessing that your blue clay had oxides in it. If you read this thread, you will learn more.

Too bad - that is a gorgeous blue.

Use lakes or dyes in these and add polysorbate 80. Also amazon isn't a good place to buy these things. They need to be FD&C approved in the US. I know people want to use all natural but it isn't really feasible in some products.

I use clay as a hardener, so I try to use the naturally colored clay if I can. The blue was a test because I knew it was questionable on the ingredients list(or lack of). Dyes fade in the sun, but these are packaged in black tubes so shouldn't be an issue. I use poly 80 with the fo/eo, so I could use lakes if I choose. Small amount of mica works too! This was just another heads up incase someone else saw that particular "blue kaolin" lol
