Hello,

Ok so for my 4th batch, tomorrow, (tying to avoid ash), I am going to try a few sugestions from people on the forums:

Please correct me or stop me if any of these are worng!

1. mix fragrance oils in with base oils before lye. yes/ no?

2. buy & spray ethyl/ or isopropyl alchohol on my molds after pouring them.

3. covering with wax paper, and insulating them with towels, all inside my igloo cooler.

4. leave 18 -24 hours before un molding..

One last question,...how do you calculate adding things such as oatmeal, or coffe grounds?

Any other suggestions would be great!

Thank yOu!
Tait :D

1. I mix my fragrance oils in after the soap traces. I don't think it matters that much, I just like to make sure that my soap does trace in case the fo does anything weird to my soap (like accelerates it).

2. yep... spray on top of the soap batter after you put it in the mold.

3. sounds good.

4. yep.

most people add 1 teaspoon or 1 tablespoon of (stuff) per pound of oils to their soap batter at trace. you can add more or less, to suit you. for instance, I like less coffee grounds than 1 tsp, but more oatmeal. you can eyeball it.

so if i was making a batch of soap with 16 ounces (1 lb) of oil, I would add between 1 tsp and 1 tbsp of oatmeal (or whatever you're using).

have fun!!

With time I've actually come to like the ash.
I like the matt white coloured tops.
At least this is what I keep telling myself...rofl!!!
