So... after the "hamburger" looking soap (my first goat milk soap), I knew I needed to get up on the horse and try again.

I made 2 batches last night (i.e this morning), well 3 actually: two goat milk, one salt. Anyway, the first goat milk was 100% got milk 60% olive, 20% coconut, 10% Castor, 10% Almond w/ 6% superfat. I mixed 1/2 water with the lye at the beginning and cooled it in an ice bath then mixed the gm w/lavender EO and added them at trace. NO COLOR CHANGE, YAY!
I popped the mold in the freezer.

I then made another 100% gm soap with the same recipe except I added 2 tbsp. honey and 2 cups ground oatmeal and a little vanilla eo... this one didn't quite seize, but seemed pretty close, the color changed a little bit... I think it started to heat up while I was still mixing (that oatmeal didn't want to distribute evenly) and the vanilla probably added to the discoloration. I popped this one into the freezer too.
After about an hour for each in the freezer, I put them into the fridge and went to bed.
This morning they popped right out and I cut them. I LOVE how creamy the lavender one looks, though I think I got my first partial gel, the other one looks good too... although there were some holes in the edges from not getting the "glop" to get rid of any air-pockets, but no biggie.

My only concern now is that they zapped me a bit. I'm hoping it's because I didn't get them and in a few days they'll be good. What DOES worry me about it is that on both of them, I accidentally added about 3 g. extra of lye to the water. I was aware of that before I measured the oils... so I added a few extra grams of each oil to be safe... I just don't know if I added enough!

Here are some pix!

The salt bars seized again, but I saved them (a la my 1st salt bars)... I was basically making them to see how this honeysuckle fo that I don't think smells anything like honeysuckle, smelled in soap. I was very haphazard with the cutting of the salt bars... oh well.

And who can forget the raw hamburger soap (complete w/ the little bits of fat)... it does smell good though

I love the circles ones , they rock , the oatmeal gm looks great too.
Way to go.

I think they are pretty!! I like the hamburger soap! I like brown though! :)
I wish partial gels would get another color like light creme that way they'd look two toned! :)

BTW-I re-zap tested last night and they didn't zap...PHEW!

ALSO, I forgot to say before... I, once again, made the mistake of getting out my good ole crack pipe while making these.... While making the oatmeal soap, when it came time to cool the lye water, I decided (against my better judgement) to put my glass lye mixing container (yes, that's bad enough already) with the hot lye solution into the ice bath. Figuring that running some lukewarm water over it for 10 seconds would ease the transition, I plopped it into the icy water and... there was a loud glass shattering sound and my container was no more. :(

So, yeah... now I'm using plastic.

Same thing applies to frozen wind shields. No hot water to thaw them!

Of course what do I know...I live in the deep south where this rarely happens! But I've always been told that is true.

Kittywings, your GM soap looks great! That's next on my list to test.

Your soaps look great!

Yeah, glass is not a good thing to use in soaping. I always use plastic.

So... I broke down yesterday and used my lavender goat milk soap... (basically the remnants that I rolled into a ball), I FRIGGIN' LOVE IT!!!

This was my first experience using goat milk soap, I kept hearing about it from all of you, so I had to try. It's so nice and creamy. My hubby likes it too! YIPPEE!
It should only get better, considering it's only about 6 days old.

I like the round with the partial gel, you wouldn't be able to re-create that if you tried!

I agree, the circles look kinda cool. Like soap donuts or maybe sorta like red blood cells!

Love the circles too! Now you go and try to do that on purpose
Oatmeal looks great too...
Raw hamburger looked good untill I read how you named it  No, serious, they look good but more like chocolate or something earthy like patchouli.
The salt bars look kinda brittle? If that's the case, last saltbar batch I had a really good result with adding roughly 2/3 (of the amount of the combined fats) finely ground salt, in stead of the often used 100%
It turned out really nice & very smooth.
