100% coconut soap

I'm pretty new to cp soapmaking, I've made 5 or 6 batches of soap with great results so far and I'm quickly becoming addicted to making soap lol !

I was wondering if you guys and gals could answer a question for me ?

I want to make a batch of pure coconut oil soap super fatted at 20%
I want to know if I can replace some of the water in the recipe with coconut milk ? Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes you sure can... I have done it with coconut milk I made. Turns out lovely.

But not more than half of the water, correct ? Meaning you need a little more water to the lye ratio.

If you want to do 50-50 liquid swap, then you need to make sure the lye is dissolved in (at least) 1:1 (1 part water, 1 part lye). The minimum amount of water that lye needs to properly dissolve is 100% of its weight.

You can also do full liquid swap. Mix the lye with the milk. Freeze it 1st and mix bit by bit to prevent scorching.

Coconut Milk - 100% Coconut Oil Bars

I love my 100% coconut oil soap with 20% SF. I use a 1:1 lye water ratio as suggested and then add the rest as coconut milk at trace. I HP mine.

I haven't tried it yet, but I always a assumed 100% coconut oil soap was drying on the skin. I had always tried not to use more than 25% because all these darn books I have said going over 20-25% can be not a good idea. So can you use that much and not have problems%

With 20% superfat it should be fine - thats what we do with our salt bars, so why not without salt? I'd like to try this as well.

I would like to add though that my OH can't use this soap on his face, it is still too harsh for him despite the superfatting, as are all soaps I have made at over 20% coconut. On the rest of him it's fine
So it may be best to bear that in mind if you have sensitive facial skin.
It's great for dirty hand washing though, and it lathers in cold water as well as salt water, so it's great for fishing and camping too

100% coconut oil soap somtimes will be called "Sailors Soap" since it will lather in salt water.

I make laundry soap using 100% coconut oil.
Coconut oil
Water
Lye.

I do a laundry soap 50/50 coconut oil and lard for a conditioning laundry soap. 0% superfat. Does great laundry.

I make my salt bars with 70-80% coconut oil and a 15% superfat. They came out very nice and moisturizing. Have yet to do a 100% coconut oil. I just like a couple other oils in my salt bars.
