I did a 100% Coconut Oil bar at 3% , that is the lowest I have ever went.

I only use it for cleaning purposes tho....not bathing or anything.

according to soap calc olive oil has poor cleansing (read 0), so maybe instead of going to 0 sf you could try using some other oils, like palm kernel and coconut..

If you're going for cleansing, these 3 are the tops:

Coconut
Babassu
Palm Kernel Oil (not to be confused with palm oil, which is totally different)

Olive oil is pretty low on the cleansing scale.

I know of many soapers who make soaps with a 0% superfat, but it's for laundry soap or stain sticks, not for the body.

IrishLass :)

Edited to add that a 0% superfat in a body soap is playing on the edge because of the very real possibility of lye heaviness. Ouch!

For my laundry soap I do 100% lard 0% superfat. We put a hog in the freezer each year and have the processor grind & bag the fat so I can render easier.

My liquid soap I do at 0%, sometimes -2%; but it gets neutralized before using.

Bath soap is kept at 6%.

The cleansing number in soap calc should be taken with a grain of salt . Castile is a wonderful and cleansing soap . You could up the suprfat to 10 or 15 % and see if you like that better.

I'm another one that does 0% superfat, but like IrishLass said, only for cleaning soap, stain sticks, laundry, etc. I wouldn't do it. That superfat is a cushion of safety for you.

Bodywise, yes.Unless you're down in a coalmine all day,any mild soap will clean skin.
IMO a 100% OO soap would be less than ideal for household cleansing purposes. So I spose it depends on intended purpose. :)

Natureboy, what is it about yr OO soap yr not happy with? ie:doesn't clean well, low lather etc? :?

Since most lye is 99%, you're always superfatting 1% more than you think :D

Yes, Donnie -- and even more superfat if one uses a soap calc because the numbers there are always on the low sap range/average =- so there
we have even more superfat with 0%!

Wonder how superfatted 0% is? LOL

I'm not using strong scents in my OO soaps. All other qualities (lather, etc.) are very fine.
Thanks for the replies.
