You do not need to whip the lotion bars. I just melt it together, mix by hand, then pour

    Ocean water soaps

I boiled my sea water before using it too. Good to know I don’t have to worry about DOS from the water.

    Ocean water soaps

It’s my first time using ocean water so I haven’t had time to develop DOS. Other people use ocean water all the time and I haven’t heard of DOS as an issue. Maybe @KiwiMoose has an answer? I think she uses sea water sometimes

    Ocean water soaps

These were made with water from the ocean that I got on a trip to see my sister. These soaps will go as Christmas presents for the siblings that went on that trip.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I boiled the water. Not sure if that was necessary but it’s what I did.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made soap using real ocean water from a trip to the beach with all of my adult siblings. I’ll be sending them to those siblings as Christmas gifts.

Long time no soap. Help w dough please!

It breaks down into free fatty acids. It’s like adding stearic acid (which is a fatty acid) to your soap - instant saponification aka soap on a stick.

Long time no soap. Help w dough please!

My first thought is to ask if your oils were old. If the oils were old they could be breaking down some which would speed up saponification significantly. So sorry your first batch in a while is giving you grief. Hopefully you can figure it out and have another good batch instead.

    tempering shea butter

You don’t need to temper shea butter before making it into soap. Just melt it like any other hard oil and cool it to the desired temperature.

    Amigurumi

I’m flattered! Thank you! I’m not sure you would like the price of the dragon if I sold it. It took me about 10 hours to make it. This dragon likes to sit on my pantry shelf and guards the oatmeal.
