    Additive Usage Rate List (PPO)

How does one go about adding sugar or salt to soap? Do you dissolve in the water? Could you not dissolve them and use them as exfoliants ( if they don't dissolve during the cook). If sugar makes more bubbles what does salt do? Thanks in advance!

    Homemade facial soap

Hey everyone! I'm interested in making a homemade facial soap that will help fight acne and help prevent wrinkles...does anyone already have a recipe for a bar like this that is working well? Or perhaps you can guide me as to what I should include in the bar? I was thinking lavender and tea tree...

    New to hot process

Hi! I'm planning on making some hp soap this weekend and I've noticed people talking about adding goats milk after the cook...what about goats milk powder? Can that be added after the cook too? Does it cause the "milk" to spoil or smell bad? How would I know if separation had occurred (haven't...

    Question about etsy

What factors should you consider before selling your stuff on etsy? Do you have to trademark your name, collect taxes, get a tax ID etc just like starting a small business, or is it more low key than that? I don't want to pick a name just to have someone from the government send me a cease and...

HP: to stir, or not to stir?

Hi Gentleman! Thank you! Just wanted to clarify though, you calculate your base recipe at a 3% superfat to account for any errors and to ensure all lye is gone but in addition to the base recipe you add an additional 5% of oil to superfat further? For example if your recipe called for 20 oz of...

    First rebatch

Sure my recipe was 2oz beeswax, 10 oz cocoa butter, 15oz coconut oil, 15oz olive oil, and 8.7oz Shea butter. The Distilled water was 19.27oz and the NaOH was 7.04oz. Thanks for your help! And yes I do have a crockpot for soap making.

    First rebatch

I made a batch of CP on Sunday and waited 24 hours before cutting. While cutting I noticed pockets of oil? Any idea what they are? In case they have lye in them should I rebatch? If so I've never rebatched before, any tips? Anyone want to explain directions for rebatching? Lastly if I do rebatch...

HP: to stir, or not to stir?

Hi! I was reading this thread and was hoping for some answers...how to you superfat afterwards? Calculate recipe with all the oils you want but wait and add one after trace? Is there a trick to it? Also what does sodium lactate do?
