    Superfatting Question

I appreciate all of the feedback. I went the route of starting with the conditioning number I was going for then working from there. Here's what I came up with so we'll see how it goes. OO: 48% PO: 15% CO: 15% CanO: 15% CasO: 5% (I've got a lot of this compared so need to use it!) CocB: 2%...

    Superfatting Question

I've been soaping (cp) away for the past few months, trying new fragrances and testing how my recipe reacts with them. I'm to the point that I'm not thrilled with the way it's making my skin feel and need to change it up a bit and thought I'd start with the superfat. I was using 7% and running...

    1st go at CPOP

I hear you on the hair, our labs can put out a poodle a week it seems. My very first unscented batch went over so well that I may be out of soap very quick after this next week or so (white tea and ginger soap I made will be at 4 weeks this weekend). The requests are rolling in for "some of that...

    1st go at CPOP

Just a quick update with cut pictures. The cucumber melon CPOP is still a little oily but only on top. The rest of the bar seems to be fairly dry. I'm assuming by 4 weeks this will be gone? Or I'll just wipe it off? The Eucalyptus Spearmint with funnel swirl turned out ok. I think it's got a...

    1st go at CPOP

Still a little oily but popped right out this morning. I've been using our second bathrooms shower as a curing station so I'm going to sit the loaf in there with the exhaust fan on and see where it gets me.

    1st go at CPOP

Thanks, Dennis. I've seen on here that some cut while oily, some wait it out. I'm not in a huge rush, just would like my mold back! (It's my only silicone loaf) This forum is great for bouncing concerns and ideas off of. I appreciate the comment and did check out your thread. -J

    1st go at CPOP

Well, still a little oily this morning... Not nearly as bad as yesterday though. Here's a pic of the spearmint eucalyptus with funnel swirl I did yesterday while waiting (no CPOP this time, everything at room temp)... Now the wait to cut!

    Boot Oil

Have you checked out beeswax and linseed oil? The combo has been used for hundreds of years to waterproof.

    1st go at CPOP

I think I checked the oven a hundred times yesterday... We rent our house and I just knew somehow I'd be ruining the oven AND my soap shortly after popping it in there... Slow cooker was also on hand for any emergencies! Kind of makes me want to go try HP today since it's a snow day here...

    1st go at CPOP

The CPOP was kind of a last minute decision... Not usually the way I work (I like everything to be well planned out) but I think next time I CPOP it'll be in a wooden mold after all that I've read over the last 24 hours. Glad it's not ruined and I just need to be patient before unmolding and...

    1st go at CPOP

So yesterday I figured that since my new silicone loaf mold had arrived from Brambleberry that I'd go ahead and give CPOP a try. I used a recipe that has been speedy to trace so I thought I'd work fast but after adding my cucumber melon cybilla FO to the batch things kind of slowed down. I still...

    Male/Female Branding

Not sure if I'm the only man to respond to this yet but I'd have to agree with the above. I don't necessarily gravitate towards male only products but tend towards items marketed for neither male or female and on their quality and purpose. If I had to pick a side however I'd say the male brand...

    Batch 2... Ready, Go!

Unmolded the soap last night (24 hours post) and it was fairly solid (no fingerprints from getting it unmolded) and a great white color! We're pretty excited to get this soap along in the curing process so that we can use it. I'll be making an unscented batch of this recipe tomorrow at 38% water...

    Batch 2... Ready, Go!

The holiday's and traveling helped a ton but it took quite a bit of restraint once I got my main supply order in a few weeks ago to not go ahead and make a batch. Plus I kept being told to wait for Christmas so that helped!

    Batch 2... Ready, Go!

After my first CP batch ever I hadn't planned on posting a follow up with my second batch but after the way it went today I figured I probably should get some feedback. Background Info: So It's taken me right at two months to gather more supplies, more information and the guts to go ahead...

    How much salt before..

Funny you posted this. I've been researching this most of the morning and can't find much on it... Hope somebody has an answer.

    Smelly Soap... WHEW!

I feel like after it mellows a bit (however long that may take) it may be a scent that I would like. I tend to get over bad experiences easily and move on so maybe I'll do as you suggest and stash it away to be found another year. It just blew my mind how potent this was. Very few times have...

    Smelly Soap... WHEW!

My wife called laughing yesterday because she received a bar of CP at work as a gift and found it humorous because of the amount of time I put in to researching the exact item she had just been gifted. After she stopped laughing about the irony she told me she would bring it home for me to...

My First Soap - Please Critique

I'll have to check my local pharmacy for the chlorella to see if it's worth getting that over ordering a clay or oxide. The herbs you listed though are on my short list of things to grab at the grocery store! I also read that eyeshadow could be used. Being that it's Christmas I'm sure I could...
