    Water Temp

    I do freeze some distilled water into ice cubes, just as I would with tea, milk or any other liquid I'm going to be using...and it does keep the lye water from getting so hot to begin with, which in turn cuts down on the wait time.

    Instead of standing for hours steaming bars...

    Nylon works really nice for polishing soaps...if you choose to do that. Too bad we can't come up with a way to avoid ash altogether, because even though cleaning a bar may be less time consuming than steaming one, it's still horribly time consuming to have to clean/polish each individual bar...

    natural coloring with spices...

    Here's a couple of threads with some really good information about using herbs such as: annatto, alkanet, comfrey, cinnamon, rosemary, turmeric, madder root, paprika, beta carotene and more...complete with pictures. I listed the best one first, but I still couldn't find the thread I was looking...
