    Slicing soap

I always drool over those kind of cutters. But since I am just a hobbyist I can't justify spending that much on one. I used to sell at craft fairs years ago...I would've loved to have one of those! I would've saved me lots of time.

    Curing in humid places

Also in central FL where it's very humid 95% of the year. Humidity does not really affect the scent of the soap like DeeAnna mentioned. It could be your recipe, your additives, the FO or EO you're using.

My silicone mold came today for my salt bars but...

It's been raining on and off all day. I have to wait for the weather to clear up and the humidity to decrease before I can make salt bars....otherwise they will weep something awful. And this is supposed to be our dry season. :wtf:

    Yeay, Salt Soap!

They all look wonderful! I hope to be making some salt bars again soon, but I am waiting on a mold I ordered to make individual bars. I sometimes make soap later in the evening, and then I'm too tired to wait to unmold them....can't do that with salt bars.

I tried a hanger swirl yesterday

Beautiful! I love the color combo, and the swirls are lovely. I've been soaping a long time and have yet to try that technique....because I mostly HP...but I really do want to give it a try sometime. TFS!

    Palm Kernel Flakes Recipes?

yes, what Obsidian said. The fatty acid profile in PK is similar to that in coconut. I think it's a bit harder than coconut in the finished bar with being a tad less drying than coconut, and I actually prefer it to coconut. And the price is cheaper too.

    How is this done?

Most likely it was pop mica. They produce very vibrant colors in soap. And even if it was purple, a few different colors are combined to produce the color you see.

    Mini crock pots

I have a 3 quart crockpot. I make small 2.5 lb to 3 lb batches and this size crockpot works well for this. I thought about getting one of the tiny crockpot to do 1 lb test batches. I have some sample fo's that I could use up this way.

    Suitable for superfatting ?

Hi there! I don't have any experience with either poppyseed oil or pumpkin seed oil, but I have used grape seed oil and I was not impressed. It didn't seem to anything special in the soap, and it's very prone to rancidity.

    Salt Soap Attacks

Oh My! Glad you are ok! I always use extra fine grain salt because I always feared I would scratch myself to death if I used anything else.

Individual molds for HP Salt bars?

I don't think I am that fond of square soap either, but I didn't like the dimensions of the rectangle.... 2x3x1.5. 1.5 is just too thick to "roll" comfortably in ones hand imho which is why I chose the square mold. Oh well, if I don't like it, I can always go for the oval mold later. Thanks...

    Making 1st hot process batch

Embrace the bumpy tops LOL! If you prefer smoother tops, you can take something that is flat like a board/lid for the mold, lay down some freezer paper on top of the soap that has been sprayed with non stick spray. Then take the lid and push down on the soap and leave it there for a few minutes...

Individual molds for HP Salt bars?

I saw the oval one and thought it was nice too. I will give this square one a try and see how I like it before ordering more.

Individual molds for HP Salt bars?

No problem. I know with Salt bars I always have to think about the fact that I live in the great state of humidity LOL! I ordered one of the square cavity silicone molds from the Bulk Apothecary today. I am anxiously awaiting it's arrival so I can make some salt bars. :D

found a good deal on Pomice Olive oil locally

Thanks new12soap! I actually have 2 stores to choose from, either one is about the same distance away. Orlando and Kissimmee. Even $13.98 is better thank $15 something. I swear I did not see 3 liter bottles of Olive oil the day I went, but I am getting old and could've missed them. I...

found a good deal on Pomice Olive oil locally

I dunno, I guess things are more expensive here in Mickey Mouse land (central FL). I will check my Sams again. I did not see the 3 liter bottles when I was there....maybe another soaper came and bought them all up the day I was there. :p No Italian or Middle Eastern markets are close....they...

Individual molds for HP Salt bars?

Thanks so much for the heads up on crafters choice molds! I was actually thinking about ordering them to mold the salt bars in, so glad I asked first! I will definitely check out the molds at bulk apothecary! Irish Lass, I was wondering if the MWM's would work, I have a couple of...

Individual molds for HP Salt bars?

For those of you who use individual molds for your salt bars, what molds do you use? I was thinking of getting some silicone molds for this, but don't know if they will keep their shape. I don't like using log molds because of the small window of time in which the soap needs to be cut.

    Least discoloring dairy/milk?

Freezing the milk really does help prevent discoloration. That's the way I do it when I'm doing CP. When I HP though (which is most of the time :p ), I use powdered GM. I make a thick slurry of it with a small amount of water, and stir it in after the cook. No discoloration whatsoever.
