Where do you buy your Tins and Tubes

Yes, I second that - what is SKS?? :-)

    Christmas was Canceled

Sorry to hear it, Chay. Technically, the shipper is responsible to PROVE that they delivered the merchandise to you. Your signature would be the only thing that proves it, so unless they told UPS to obtain your signature and UPS did actually do it, Bittercreek's still on the hook. Good luck!!

    Terrible Experience with Peak

Thanks so much to everyone for responding. I feel better knowing that everyone has had good experiences with them. I'm going to try to pretend that this never happened and just go from here. Thanks :-)

    Colorant for bubble bars???

Update: I tried the LaBomb colorants in bubble bars this weekend and I didn't really like the result (very spotty). However, I'm thinking that if I first mix the colorant into my liquid ingredient (a surfactant), it will distribute much more evenly. I'll try that next time.

Natural Soaps.. Essential Oils.. how do they afford it!?

I've used both EOs and FOs (separately) in CP soap and I've been mostly pleased with the results using .8 oz PPO. I wanted to mention for anyone who's interested, that I use the 15X Orange EO from WSP (http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/ProductDetail.aspx?CategoryID=2043&ProductID=7900) and it...

    Terrible Experience with Peak

I'm glad others have had a good experience. Maybe this was an anomaly and I'll have to believe that my letter never reached the owner. I do like some of their fragrances, so I think my only choice here is to ignore the whole thing and live with the bad taste in my mouth, so to speak. Thanks...

    Terrible Experience with Peak

First, let me say that I don't know if this is something you're not allowed to do on the forum and if it is, I apologize. Moderators - feel free to censor if necessary. I just wanted to let you know that I had a really bad experience with Peak Candle customer service. I ordered some...

    Scent

I've only been soaping for about 6 months, but all of my soaps have so far retained their scent very well. I keep them pretty aired out. I read somewhere that plastic sandwich bags actually can soak up fragrance, which you wouldn't want, so I'd avoid those.

    Colorant for bubble bars???

I have heard people say that micas are a nightmare when used in products that go in the bathtub (they can leave a ring of color that you have to scrub out). I can't offer advice from personal experience, but that's what I've heard. The LaBomb colorants from Brambleberry work great for bath bombs...

    Sugar Scrub

Looks like a great recipe, Carebear. I'm going to have to give it a try - sugar scrubs have been on my list lately.

    Liquid Soap smells like oils

Thanks for your replies. At least now I know I'm not necessarily doing it wrong! :D

    Egg White Bath Bomb Frosting?

I'm not an expert on the topic, but I love to cook and bake and I would say that you'd want to incorporate as much air as possible - use at the least a regular hand or stand mixer (not a stick blender) or better yet, use the whisk attachment on the mixer instead of the regular beaters. Good luck!

    Emulsified Scrub Recipe

I made this recipe yesterday and had the same problem. I used plain old white sugar (because I've read that that's the most pleasing level of scrubbiness, compared to coarser sugars). I added when the emulsion was "cooled", but not flat out cold. In the future, keeping the emulsion cool when...

    sticky lotion bar

Tabitha, you are much more experienced than I am, so I certainly give heavy weight to your opinion. The reason I thought it was the beeswax was: 1. Most descriptions of beeswax describe it as a sticky substance 2. More importantly, when I reduced the percentage of beeswax in the recipe, the...

    sticky lotion bar

Well, I remelted and reformulated so that my formula matched Tabitha's suggestion: 3 parts wax 3 parts cocoa butter 1 part shea 1 part jojoba 1 part almond It's definitely better in terms of stickiness. I suspect that beeswax is what makes it sticky. I'm still not quite pleased with...

Yay, Amy!! You give hope to us all (at least a Newbie like me for sure)!!!

    sticky lotion bar

Thanks, Tabitha. I'll try your percentages. What's weird is, i actually really like the hardness - it's the perfect hardness (for my taste) in a lotion bar. It's easy to apply, yet firm enough to hold it's shape well. It even has a pretty nice glide to it. The problem is that it just feels...

    sticky lotion bar

Just made my first lotion bar (I'm on a roll with making sutff this week - sorry if my posting is getting outta hand!). I really like it in some ways, but it feels a bit sticky. I'm very new to bath and body, so I'd appreciate any help in figuring out what makes it feel sticky. Here's my recipe...

    Liquid Soap smells like oils

I've only made a few batches of liquid soap and I'm very pleased with the soap itself, but I have a problem with the "oily" smell. I think I've put more than enough EO in it, like 80-100 drops into an average size pump dispenser full of soap. The EO smells nice, but there is still a distinct...
