    Comments on recipe?

It looks like a fine recipe overall. I'm sure the canola will work, but I've heard that canola oil has a very short shelf life and can contribute to DOS in the soap. So, unless there's a really special, particular reason you're using it, I'd substitute some castor oil instead. I always add...

Wish you could smell this one

I love the FO of that scent (I think it's from WSP, but might be from Peak). I've never tried using those particular EO's - I'll bet it's fantastic. I've been meaning to do more EO blending and that'll be near the top of my list. Very cool!

Failure sucks - and can I save it??

Thanks to everyone for their replies. It's too bad I already got rid of the oily later on top - sounds like maybe I should have rebatched. Or, like "busymakingsoap!", I did think about simply stickblending the whole thing and repouring, but I decided against it. Next time (hopefully, there...

Failure sucks - and can I save it??

I've had more than my share of soap failures lately - it's disappointing, but I'm trying to stick it out. When I first started, I had like 20 successful batches in a row - I was invincible. I used milk cartons, by the way - they seem to have the perfect amount of heat retention. Anyhow, since...

    copywrite infringement

Yes, I'm sure Disney (any major company) has trademarked all of their characters. Heck, big bad Disney has probably trademarked and copyrighted their restaurant menus and the pattern on the toilet paper at Disneyland!

    copywrite infringement

What you're referring to is a trademark. If one company trademark's their logo, which includes an original cartoon character, and another company uses that cartoon character in THEIR logo or other materials, then that would be a trademark infringement. Funny story, I actually saw a rinky dink...

    WSP oils

What a fun idea!! I'll have to try that - with the baking soda! Does it make the soap look bubbly? I'd love to see a pic! Sorry to hijack the thread, but your soaps are so pretty, I just have to talk about them!!!

    WSP oils

About the shea from WSP - I have always found it to be firm. Maybe they've made a change to their supplier??? Bergamot & Bubbles - I love all the pretty soaps. I was just needing some inspiration for soaping this weekend and you've given me some! Is the piped frosting on top whipped soap...

    Soaphutch vs. Woodfields molds

SoapHutch molds are great - very well crafted. And I have nothing but good things to say about Rich Bartko, they owner/craftsman (although sometimes he's slow to respond to email). Just remember, the materials are very different and you will need to adjust your methods a bit. SoapHutch molds are...

WOW! Those are great - not just for your first attempt, but just great, period! Congrats!

    Wine in bath bombs

As others suggested, you can add a wine F.O., but my experience with wine scents is that they just smell like grape candy (which I really don't like). I've tried 3 or 4 (cant' remember the whole list right now), and have not had any luck, but I will have to try the Cabernet from NG, like someone...

    Pour Lye into water...right?

You've got it right - water first, then add the lye to the water. I'm sorry you had a volcano! Hope you're alright. I wonder what happened to cause that.

Small tip to avoid splashes while mixing

Yes, sounds like a clever idea - thank you.

I did it! I did it! My first CP : )

It's hard to say about gel. I have found that small batch sizes gel just fine for me (usually). If you insulate it really well, and depending on how well your container insulates, I don't see why it wouldn't.

Congrats! It looks really pretty. Don't forget to post pics of the cut soap - we'll all be eager to see it!

    Bath Oil Separation

Is it normal to have the different components of a bath oil separate? I used the following recipe and I have layers: 57% Olive Oil 10% Sweet Almond Oil 10% Fractionated Coconut Oil 20% Polysorbate 80 1% Vitamin E 2% F.O. It's easy enough to shake up the mixture before using, but i'm...

    WSPs sale, another hoax?

I also noticed the price changes and the way they cut the value of my loyalty points in half. Thanks a lot. Wanna hear another annoying story about WSP? I wrote a bad review about something on the site and they decided not to post it. I followed their directions - and on top of that - I also...

Thanks, Scouter! I'll give it a try.

    Good Chamomile

Sorry if this has already been posted, but I'm having a hard time finding the information here on this forum. I'm wondering if anyone has found a good and TRUE chamomile fragrance oil out there? Obviously, the E.O. is a bit pricy. I've seen that several suppliers make the scent, but a couple of...
