    Mikes fragrances and more

I never heard of Mikes Fragrances, but I'm sorry for your luck. :-| I'd hate to have that happen to me. I'm glad you posted since I now have a heads-up. I'm curious though: would the scents fade if you were to rebatch using the same scents? I have no idea if the lye in the CP batch had an...

    Lye-Dipped Pretzels (Laugenbretzel)

A toaster oven would be great! I think it take less energy to use one, but is convenient if you just want to CPOP 1 batch of soap. Plus it heats up super fast so it doesn't take long to toast up the garlic bread or to bake a pie. I love using mine for an individual souflee every now-and-then.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made a HP soap using bentonite clay for the first time. I hope it turns out successfuly.

What soapy thing have you done today?

This is not really soapy, but it is something. I made a tooth powder using a site that another user posted: www.mommypotamus.com/tooth-powder-recipe/ I forgot who posted this link, but I definitely want to thank them. :) I also made a facial mask/scrub with some bentonite clay. It got my skin...

Mica color comparisons- yellows and blues

The only like I found searching for "magic blue" is this one: http://www.soapmakingforum.com/showthread.php?t=45441&highlight=magic+blue It's about blue clay colorant disappearing from a lard soap. Was that the link you were referring to? BTW, nice mica colors! :)

    Micro buisness man

Are you good at carving or sculpting? Since your left hand is still shaky, maybe you can make a nice soap and carve a picture or insignia into it or sculpt something out of it. Of course you still have to find a good recipe and it may take a while before you find one that you want to stick with...

Any real uses for grapeseed and corn oil?

I was actually going to suggest the grapeseed oil for salad dressing. :-D It would be a perfect choice as doesn't add much to the taste (if any at all). I'm not sure about the corn oil, though. :( I haven't used it for food in years and my recent bottle is rarely used.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I f cut my most recent HP earlier and I am still wondering why the bottom was still soft as opposed to the top of the soap? It just now occurred to me that I should have put the mold in the freezer and see how that would help.

    lump of coal soap

I wish I could offer better suggestions, but I can only shout out blind ideas: a spicy/woody scent may work or a spiced orange. I'm assuming you prefer EOs and my crazy behind started thinking of pine. :) I wouldn't suggest that EO though, but I can imagine something woody.

ideas for toddler soaps, lotions, oils, etc. please

Sweet almond oil is said to be good as a baby oil and Castile soap is pretty gentle on a baby's skin (so I've read). I honestly never made anything for a baby, but I did try my hand with an olive-palm combo that should be finished curing by now. I would also stay on the safe side with CO (maybe...

The only thing I can suggest is that you establish something in a field that you have a passion for. A true passion for a craft can make the difference between having customers and keeping customers.

    Butter Soap Curiosity

10% butter is be a lot better than what I made. It stinks when wet and the smell lingers. I used a bit of each bar at a 4-week cure. It did leave my hands feeling soft, but I started to wonder if it had a bleaching quality to it as my hands look a little lighter to me than normal. I seen the...

How do you deal with competitor questions???

I appreciate the kind words, but I myself am still a newbie. Almost six months of soaping and I just recently started playing with colors and using a basic (albeit nice) technique. It's not a problem for me to share the little I know because I can see the blessing from other people's...

    First Tallow Soap

I love the looks of that recipe. I hope all goes well with your soaping. P.S., if you really feel like it (and don't mind odorizing the house), you could buy some fat back and render the lard. I won't lie, it's tough to cut but it will give you the lard you want. The bonus is that the leftover...

    Carrot Spice

I love seeing a soap that makes me wish I could eat it... or at least smell it.

How do you deal with competitor questions???

Thank you, goji_fries. :) I understand that it's natural that people would want to learn more about a new selling point, but it amazes me that some artisans feel it is great to take the easy route to expanding their line. One still has to learn the ins and outs of the potential product as well...

    Back from the Dead

I never had an experience with lice, but I think you could also use lavender to combat lice as well. I just hope it's not an luxury.

I was that annoying soaper at the stand!

You're right, presentation is key! :) It would have been better if they cut a small piece of each soap and kept the rest out the sun (it sounds like they were melting).

How do you deal with competitor questions???

Even if you are profiting off of research and information passed on to you, you still put in your time (can never be gained back) and hard work of finding the information and formulating the recipes. They should put in their own time for research if they are that interested in making aroma...
