Re-purposed CP soap for inlays in new bars?

I did something like that before and I actually liked the results, both in and out the bathtub. I cut some residual soaps into chunks and added them to a pear soap.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I am making a HP olive soap still. I started around 4pm or 5pm and it's about to go into the final stages now. I wish it didn't take so long to make, but the benefits for me outshine the wait. Update: I finished the soap, but I failed to add the oils before it went into full vaseline mode. It...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I was about to go back to my basics with a soap I planned to make when I realized I did not have enough of either oil to make my desired amount. I didn't want to open the other bottles since I wanted to calculate the price of future soaps. so I'm debating on making a confetti soap.

Avocado oil vs butter vs puree

I think I may have seen a video with one soaper making avacado soap using the puree and oil. If you want to be safe, I would suggest sticking to either just the oil and butter or using the puree as part of the water content, maybe 50%. I never made avacado soap, but I would be adventurous enough...

    If Only......

I don't know, the armpits really do benefit from the shave on those off days you may have forgotten to put on deoderant... I really think they came out with those some years back. I'm just glad the health classes from the yester-years scared me into not really using them.

How long is long enough for curing?

I generally give my CP bars 8-12 weeks to cure and my HP bars 4-8 weeks. I also borrowed a trick from DeeAnna: clapping 2 bars together. The soap bars that are at the end of their curing process have a slight bounce when clapped together whereas the bars have more of a thud when they require...

    If Only......

If only such a soap existed, then I can eat all the food I want... then again, it will not help me with the blood pressure and diabetes that would come with it. @snappyllama: I'm grateful that I was not born around that time period. The only thing shorter than my fuse towards such insults would...

does castor oil get used in your soaps?

It's my opinion that castor oil is a pain, though it can be nice to add. I am not a fan of sticky soaps and too much castor can easily lead to a sticky soap. I guess my own problem would be to figure out when it's best to use it. My favorite lather booster is beer, by the way.

Pomace vs. Grade A vs. Virgin

I used EVOO and OO pomace. I can't tell you the difference between the two as my pomace soaps are still curing, but I can say that I like to use EVOO for superfatting some of my HP soaps.

    Natural products, wild claims?

Give your friend the heads-up while providing her proof of why these products are not the safest to use. Soap Queen has a great article discussing the importance of preservatives (it's also informative on what items do not need it as well).

Are all essential oils safe for soap making?

I don't know about the cedarwood eo from Wholesale Supplies Plus (I found it weaker than my Bulk Apothecary cedarwood), but snappyllama has a point about buying the oils from a soaping site. You may even end up buying a better quality eo from online retailers in addition to possibly getting...

All will be forgiven when you send me 1 of each. ;)

    Paper Bakeware as soap molds?

It's my opinion that silicone bakeware should not be used as soap molds. I have a silicone bread loaf that did not maintain the soap's shape well, leading me to buy some loaf-molds from WSP. edit: I just "woke up" and realized it was paper you referred to. I have higher doubts that the paper...

    Critique My Coconut Milk Soap

I love the way the soaps came out. :) Just so you know, letting the soaps undergo gel phase will give the soaps a more translucent color while preventing gel phase keeps the soap opaque.

    Orange pumpkin bars

I always find the most scrumptious looking soaps when I'm hungry! :) All I see is carrot cake right now.

    My First Pumpkin Soap!

Brambleberry has about 6 different beer scents to try. I would be the one to try all of them, but it's not the most feasible move to make right now.

    Reusing kitchen fat

The following links seem the most helpful: http://skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/8461/is-it-unhealthy-to-reuse-cooking-oil http://whatscookingamerica.net/Q-A/CookingOil.htm The first site has links to other sites for information while the second site (albeit old) gives an expanded view...

    rough pencil line

Post 21 in katsntx's thread shows a picture of what a pencil line looks like. Post 26 has a video tutorial on it. Both post can do a better job explaining it than I can (the technique is out my pay grade).

What soapy thing have you done today?

I just went with my nose on this one since I never really used the combo before. I mixed 50/50 of litsea and orange and added it to the batter. I thought it smelled pretty nice, so I added another round of each for safe measure. Rather than weighing them, I used the measurements on the dropper...
