What soapy thing have you done today?

These look AMAZING! The colours are very chic! And I agree with @Mobjack Bay ... we are our worst critics. These are so adorable! I have never piped or frosted anything in all my life LOL!

    Cold pressed oils? Refined butters?

Thanks for the help. I might try a small batch :) Wish me luck!!

    Cold pressed oils? Refined butters?

Thank you so much! This is so informative. They are quite lax about these things here… even EOs are a little suspect — no certifications/checks etc.

    Cold pressed oils? Refined butters?

Yes! The unrefined ones look creamier and not so clinically pale. I get you… for me, I am so haphazard so there is the added risk of messing up the calculations and formulations! I managed to get the label for the sunflower oil. (Picture attached.) Is this high oleic sunflower oil? I had tried...

    Cold pressed oils? Refined butters?

@Vicki C Thank you so much… I was really blown away by the butter prices! Then I spoke to a friend I’d met in a soap making class — she is from Chad and is now based in Senegal for UN work. She is revelling in all the butters in Africa! I’ll see about HOSO … hard to tell because labelling is...

    Cold pressed oils? Refined butters?

We are having such cool weather here… good time to make soaps! 😁 And of course, I have more questions than ever!! I found a place selling shea butter. The raw kind is SO tempting but madly expensive, even at only 250g. (I know shea butter is pricey but the huge tax on imported goods is a double...

    ZNSC attempt

Wow!!!!! I love how white your soap looks! I’m just jelly now 🤣 because I still have no luck with ZNSC. Please share your other projects too!

What soapy thing have you done today?

HIYA! ❤️❤️ I wasn’t up to more mayhem so I poured the soap into individual moulds rather than a loaf mould. I didn’t gel the soap so it was a pale orange colour in the end!

What soapy thing have you done today?

Last week, I ordered Himalayan rhubarb because I’d had success with infusing my olive oil in alkanet root and paprika. Silly me, I didn’t realise I was ordering whole roots instead of powder. They were too hard to grind, so I was really quite disappointed. Then, I had a brainwave… use the...

New to coloring bar soap, looking for help

A soap I made using the Bastile soap recipe by @AliOop (minus the goat mik powder). The olive oil was infused with paprika and it was a lovely vermillion red. I was almost sorry to use it 😁 Once mixed and soaped, it mellowed to this peachy colour.

    Castille

Oh... so this is a local company here in Pakistan. While they do acknowledge the origins of "Castile Soap", they have taken a looser definition too: "Chiltanpure Castile Liquid Soap, originally named after the olive-oil based soaps from Castile-Spain. Chiltanpure Castile liquid soap is made from...

    Castille

I'm not sure if the company you're alluding to is the same one I found while researching Castile soap. It confused me because it contained so many different oils. I'd always thought Castile was 100% olive (even before learning how to make soap!). I do remember reading their labels (online... we...

    Help with ZNSC

What would I do without you guys??? It's one thing to learn the method of soapmaking, but troubleshooting all the particular insane moments is another story altogether! Fab!!! I think we might be in the minority hehe. I think it's my love for CO soap that's made me so impatient with Castile...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I think they can be! But even postage is expensive, so I’ve resorted to buying them when I visit my family in Singapore or when my eldest comes to Pakistan to visit. (She lives with my mum and brother while studying in uni in Singapore.)

    Help with ZNSC

I had used pomace because it was hard for me to cross over and use such an expensive and delicious oil for soap. I also thought of pomace as a zero waste gem, you know? Having said that, I totally understand your point of view!

    Help with ZNSC

I cannot tell you how relieved that makes me feel. I had really wanted to make a Castile soap because people here adore olive oil (I do too… but to eat) and they equate good soap with EVOO. I also thought such a gentle soap might help my friend’s son as he has severe eczema. I can’t seem to get...
