Lip balm- First time and a disaster

I would make a recipe with beeswax. It sounds like your balm was too thin and too hot when it was poured, causing the leaking. So for your first batch I wouldn't be attempting to replax a wax with butters alone, especially not into tubes. If you really want to try messing with balms without wax...

    New Crafter needs some help

I know it had been mentioned, but you seemed to still be interested in tanning so it really can't be said enough that its not going to help your issue.

    Soap planer questions for owners

Thanks for the suggestions but I don't have any money for a planer. That's why I had asked my dad to make me one. The Korean one I spoke of is on etsy not eBay, only Korean one I saw on eBay was plastic.

    New Crafter needs some help

Tanning is going to make scars more noticeable and your problem worse not better. I have quite a lot of scarring, my cause is different than yours but the end result of scar tissue and how it reacts to tanning is the same. I have a genetic disorder that causes me to scar very easily so I get...

    Soap planer questions for owners

The Coeur d'Alene soap planer was my first choice if I had the money, and I sent photos and a video of it to my dad so he could make one in the same style. I sent a message to the seller through etsy, I mentioned though that I had received the planer from an amazon purchase. I also mentioned...

Help! Almond Oil, Sweet vs. Sweet Almond Oil

I was there the other day to pick up some Walnut oil. I also noticed they have roasted hazelnut oil, and I wonder if that could be used in cosmetic products LOL. I'm an oil junky, I love trying out different ones on my skin for balms and butters. They had both regular and roasted walnut, so I...

    Soap planer questions for owners

Sorry for babbling on so much. I should have just made my ETA above into a new post anyhow. I'm just really disappointed over this so far, when I was thrilled just the other day about getting a planer! Its like when you've been craving food at your favorite restaurant for months, finally go, and...

    Soap planer questions for owners

I haven't used it because I don't want to have already used it if I have to return it. I know there's supposed to be a gap there, thats how it cuts and allows the soap to fall under the planer. So are you saying your gap is uneven, much wider on one side like mine? On the funky bevel guide...

Help! Almond Oil, Sweet vs. Sweet Almond Oil

Whole foods lol. And at the time I wasn't sure how much of a difference there was. So I Googled on my phone (because the roasted was cheaper) and went with the regular sweet almond. I don't remember what I read at all at the time.

    Soap planer questions for owners

The blade is straight, the wood it's attached to isn't. There is no way to adjust it. Does anyone else have an uneven gap like that? And I know the bevel guide is a defect, no way that's normal. The other stuff I don't know. The split is on the underside so it won't cut the soap at least...

    cucumber avocado

Do you have a non aluminum pan you could stick in the oven? I've never done it but I've read from others here who use the oven to rebatch. Hopefully one jumps in. You can melt it down in the oven and then mold it.

    Soap planer questions for owners

Ok, so I asked my dad to make me a soap planer and sent him loads of loads of information, various plans, youtube videos, and photos. Then the other day I got an email where he jokingly said he'd finished the planer, and attached an amazon invoice for a soap planer being sent to me. I super...

    lip balm oil subs

With the extra that you can't fit into pots put it into like a tiny gladware or similar container, like the salad dressing size. You can also pick up some tiny plastic containers from dollar tree that are useful for this. Then down the line when you have more containers or have used up and...

    Cucumber

I used a full swap for water. After I made the Avocado puree (by smashing it with my hands and running it through a strainer to remove fibers) I added some liquid until I was satisfied, froze the cubes, and used them at full water rate.

    lip balm oil subs

Yes, most of the other waxes are harder and need to be used in a ratio when swapping for beeswax. I can't remember with soy though but candelillia and carnauba are harder. I've only used beeswax so far, you can Google exchange ratios.

    lip balm oil subs

Yep! You can definitely add more butters and oils. One of my first batches I added extra beeswax because the batch before was too soft... But I went too far in the opposite direction and Yea it was like a crayon. Unfortunately I'd poured into tube so had to remove it all and remelt to add the...

    Cucumber

I haven't had any problems with Avocado or cucumber. I really loved them both.

    Cheese Slicer

Its really not necessary to hold it steady in multiple directions, I don't even have the bottom guide on my cutter yet and have nerve damage in my arms/hands and have no problem using this cutter to cut nice even bars. The bottom guide is mostly to make things faster and a little easier, large...

    Cheese Slicer

I'm sure everyone would put the guide opposite the hinge for that reason, so the soap doesn't slide while being cut. One on the top wouldn't stop sliding as well, you'd still have to use your hand to steady it up against. It's easy to make markings to line up with as far as bar thickness, so...
