    I Hate Beeswax

1% is very little, I'm surprised you noticed anything different working your soap. For the stick blender, I clean it like dishes: I soak it in a deep pot full of hot water with detergent for few minutes, after which I turn it on at full speed. I clean the chassis with a dish rag...

    I Hate Beeswax

I love it and the feel and the smell it gives to soap. Have used up to 10%, but usually go with 2-3%. Also, it's supposed to help against ash and DOS. The only difficulty I see is that you need to heat the oils and cannot soap at room temperature. Only tried it in HP couple of times and...

    EOs!!!

There is a discussion about blends in the aromatherapy forum. From my experience, more often than not a blend that smells nice will smell nice in soap aswell. Other times it doesn't and there you go by trial and error. Plus there are some EOs which are known to morph during the cure...

    Comfrey

Personally, I've just made a soap with comfrey root powder.

    Thanks, great link.

    Sage versus Clary Sage

I know there are more sage plants, but not sure about available essential oils, also if there is any difference between their claimed therapeutic effects.

Messed up my first ever soap! Now what?

You are still mixing lye, which is mixed together into your soap.

    Transparent soap troubleshooting

I don't think straining is possible, I mean it will always cause hardening. I don't know what "scum" is :) There are 2 things I have noticed on top: - foam - a sort of "skin" For both, it helps abundantly spraying with alcohol. If the skin gets too thick, alcohol doesn't help anymore...

Is this mold growing on my soap?

White is one thing, but fuzzy - that suggests mold.

    Bentonite as emulsifier ?

Bumped into this while randomly surfing the net - has anybody heard of it ?

HP and Rebatch Very Gooey and Melty

Quite peculiar ... are you rebatching with distilled water ? Also, by gooey, do you mean slimy ?

    marketing look

To my knowledge, the blender doesn't whip. It's the mixer that does that, or some food processor with mixing/whipping accessory. Also, putting raw soap in the blender may have safety risks.

    Coconut flour, a question?

Yes, not the same, but possibly it's worth a try. What I would do is add 1 cup hot water to 1-2 cups of flour and blend. Strain well through a cheese cloth. If you're up to it, you can repeat the proces, to further concentrate the "milk" - which means that you can add your hot milk to...

    Liquid Soap

Thinness doesn't necessarily relate to dilution, that's because you can thicken a diluted soap. However, talking about concentrated soap, it does feel like it rinses off more difficult.

    Transparent soap troubleshooting

If it isn't clear at one point, it won't become clear again. That doesn't seem right to me. If it looks clear in the pot, it means it's fully dissolved.

Does anyone know the answer to this question???

Whipped soap contains more air and less soap, but if you're talking weight - it doesn't seem to me like it gets used up faster.

Extra volume as in - fluff it up ? You can do that with whipped soap.

    Liquid Lye??

Some people make this "liquid lye" at home, for soapmaking purposes. But you need to know the percentage of water so that you can enter it in the soapcalc.

    Ok i gotta ask

    Mostly for forcing/speeding up gel.

    Liquid Soap

I'm not sure what your level of experience is, but I see few potential problems if that's your main source of information: - oils and potassium hydroxide should be measured by weight, not by volume - usually there's a neutralization stage involved which is missing from the explanation. Even...
