Possible issues from under-mixing the batter?

What are the possible issues I could face if my batter isn’t well mixed? What can go wrong? I really don’t want to undermix for the sake of swirls. Some of the designs we like to make on our CP soaps require the batter to be as liquid as possible, mostly the ones I pointed on the picture. To...

I sure did learned A LOT with 1 post. I’m beyond grateful to everyone that replied. Trying not to kick myself too much because there are so many simple things I could have been doing already. Once again thank you for all the knowledge shared! This Forum is one of the best things I could have...

We try to soap very cool also, usually below 90/95. We don’t use fragrances and some EO are too dramatic with high temps lol - My feeling is that if we soap at high temp we feel the scent almost disappears. Does it make sense?

South Florida is definitely challenging at times for soaps. Lol We were not using distilled water but clearly that is a must. A lot of people have told us that. We were using 38% at first and one of the things I didn’t like was how much smaller the final bars became after curing, and some times...

What a dream to live without DOS! Lol We started making the soap with 38% and switched to 1.3:1 simply because we learned that from someone else and it worked for her. To us, we noticed that helped reducing the ash that we were getting some times. But I will change to a ratio with more water...

Just read the whole post on Rancidity. Thank you so much for sharing. There’s a lot I can start doing to avoid this. About to buy a dehumidifier too because we live in Miami and the humidity here is no joke. Thank you for helping us out sharing your experience.

Hi cmzaha, thank you for the suggestion. I had to google it because I disn’t know what it was. To be honest I’ll have to read more about it,😬 We try to keep our soaps as natural as possible using simple ingredients that people recognize what they are (except for the lye). So depending on what...

Aww thank you 🫶 - that picture doesnt show much but we really like how marbled they look. Oh wow!! I never thought of that. I’m sure I never buy anything that says blend. I usually buy my oils with from Soapers Choise or Brambleberry (both here from the US). So I trust the oils are in fact what...

The only reason why we use such low water to lye ratio is because we got that from a soap maker we admire a lot. We love her soaps and we know that ratio works well for her. With time we learned to make some designs even with so little water but we have been thinking about switching back to then...

Thank you! It’s painful to watch it happening and not being to do anything once it begins. I wasn’t and for some reason I always thought that this could be the issue. As soon as I read your post and ran To do it And I’ll never let the soaps touch the aluminum again. Thank you 🙏 no, only metal...

    Sweaty Soaps?

Thank you for sharing your experience KiwiMosse. I’m not sure if the sweating is bad for the soaps but it definitely bothers me when I notice. I’m starting to consider a dehumidifier too.

Sorry, I know there’s a lot about it and I’ve been reading them already. I’ve been getting DOS on some soaps very fast. Could it be because of where I store them? We have the soaps on a bakers rack, inside the house, under the AC, in an open closet (no doors). We live in Miami and the humidity...

    Sweaty Soaps?

Thank you so much for taking the time to share that you go through the same. We haven‘t been making soaps for a a long time so the sweaty soaps were driving us crazy. This week we had some of the hottest days ever in Miami, the humidity was crazy and on top of it all our AC broke and wouldn’t...

    Sweaty Soaps?

Hi everyone, Some of the soaps we make tend to get “sweaty” (slippery or oily) some times. Even after months and months. Anyone know why this could be happening? We noticed first during some farmers markets, when we got the soaps out of the car they were sweating in the AC. By the way we...

How to “save” whipped body butter

Created a whipped body butter with the following ingredients: Coconut oil, Murumuru butter, Shea Butter, Sweet almond oil, Avocado oil, Vitamin E oil, Squalene, Cetearyl Alcohol, Arrowroot powder, Essential oils And couldn’t be happier with the result. However I took to a farmers market...
