Is my recipe going to be OK?

I think so too! I can never wait for my soap to fully cure when testing a new recipe. I test a piece every week and made a note of when it magically transforms, ie goes from "nice" to "wow". It's really helpful for me to see how it changes over time, especially when I'm using similar formulas...

Rehab the hair (or how to get away from lye based shampoo)?

No, I do not know what they mean. Many people don't understand science and truly believe that "natural" products are chemical free. Some use the false term "chemical free" to indicate no synthetic ingredients while others mean it to indicate no synthetic ingredients that are considered harsh...

Is my recipe going to be OK?

Very interesting. Of course a longer cure generally benefits most any soap. I would be curious though the rest of the formula. I do notice that some lipids like lard particularly seem to benefit from a longer cure. The geek in me is curious now to see if the change was synergistic, from...

Rehab the hair (or how to get away from lye based shampoo)?

You wrote that you never dye your hair nor use any chemicals. EVERYTHING in life is a chemical. So I don't understand your statement. Hope

Does anybody here promote CP soap as shampoo?

What scientific evidence did you present for your HP claims? Unnamed "experts" whose credentials can't be examined isn't evidence. Since you've started back up on the subject again, it would appear that you're determined to be argumentative about it and just in general. Hope

Is my recipe going to be OK?

Zing, Did you mean this as written or did you leave out the word "high"? I don't find that soaps with 30-50% olive oil need more than 8 weeks. The higher you go after that, the longer the cure, unless you use ZNSC of course. Hope

Is my recipe going to be OK?

Another vote for lard! You can use olive oil at 100%. For the oils you have listed, I would start with something like below: 50% olive oil 15% shea butter 20% coconut oil 10% avocado oil 5% castor oil I.would search the forum for "palmitic" and "stearic" as there's some great info on here...

    Questions on lotion bars

Yup. Pretty much all do. I know some butters also don't play well with other lipids. I don't have my notes handy on that though. It's all about the chemistry. Hope

    Questions on lotion bars

If you're using butters that need tempered to avoid graininess, you're less likely to hit full melting point in the microwave. Hope

Nice website and marketing but they.make claims that are false or not legal. Hope

    Latest ZNSC

I only use distilled water or purified juices not because of hygiene but to avoid unwanted minerals that may cause DOS or otherwise affect the performance of my soap. Hope

    70% Rice Bran Oil soap

Please take this to another thread. If you don't want to learn, fine, but can you please at least start your own thread rather than hijacking this one on RBO soap? When I'm studying the oil and refer back to this thread I'd like to be able access the wealth of knowledge without scrolling...

Rehab the hair (or how to get away from lye based shampoo)?

I don't understand your statement that you don't use chemicals on your hair. Even water is a chemical (H20). Hope

How many different oils do you use in your soap?

And I'm betting that makes a creamy lather that feels lovely after the bath. Hope

How many different oils do you use in your soap?

Problem with that is your water bill goes way up because you're enjoying your soap so much you lather up twice or thrice. I've been tweaking my formulas again and have 6-7 ends in my bathroom right now. I may or may not wash my hands 5950193 times a day because I want to feel my creamy lather...

    New Soaper from NE Ohio

I'm also scent sensitive and have to be careful which FO I use. You're in the middle of a lot of soap suppliers. I use NG, WSP, and Nurture. Please feel free to message me if you're interested in any of their FO. If I've used it I'm happy to share whether it bothered me, and even send you a...

Lotion Bar - coconut NOT greasy??

415 is pure soy wax, no additives. The others have them and may not be skin safe. Lots of other vegan waxes to try. Hope
