    Salt bars and arm pits!

Thanks, @AliOop ! What kind of soap saver do you use? Plastic mesh? Sisal fiber? Other? Yes, one of my daughter's complaints is that she can't get the deodorant off with a salt bar. But she hasn't said that about my other, regular soaps, which is why I'm mystified.

    Salt bars and arm pits!

@Obsidian - Thanks for your response! Happy to know we're not alone in this! They don't use bath poofs or wash cloths. They are rub-the-soap-right-on-my-skin bathers. I'll pass along your suggestion.

    Salt bars and arm pits!

So much about salt bars on the forum lately! And, okay, I feel pretty weird bringing this up, but . . . my son and daughter, both young adults, have reported separately that salt bars don't clean their arm pits well enough. They are both very devoted soap testers and have never given me that...

What a great idea! I love pomelo! How long did you have to leave it in the oven? How did you know when it was ready to grind?

    Water Discount?

I found this article (link below) useful when trying to understand lye concentration and water:lye ratios. I recommend starting at the section: The Most Common Lye Solution Strengths in Soapmaking The writer provides very useful graphics and even a chart that shows equivalents in lye...

    EO blend advice please!

I recently did a lavender-lemongrass-patchouli blend I really liked. The blend itself was 45% lemongrass, 40% lavender, 15% patchouli.

Can you keep us posted on the spirulina? I'm wondering if that beautiful green will hold.

Ugggh, trying to save my soap

Nice rebatch! I love that rustic look you got. When I first started soaping, I also used Brambleberry's FO amounts, but it was frustrating because I didn't know how they got that number. Now I use percentages of my oils to decide how much FO to use. It gives me so much more control. I usually...

    Coffee Fragrance Query

I've had trouble with coffee FO as well. It was from New Directions UK. I think trying the same recipe with a different FO sounds like a really good idea. Your batter shouldn't seize at all with a well-behaved FO.

    "Cleansing"

Thank you for this! My daughter has a similar scalp issue and is also using prescription shampoos. Maybe she'll be willing to try your solution. When you say "rosemary", do you mean fresh rosemary plants (the needles)?

Beautiful swirl! I love that color combination!

Palm oil alternatives to this recipe?

I started using soy wax a few months ago and I really like it. I originally wanted to use it for the hardness it contributes to soap, but I was surprised to find out it also adds really good lather. I think many people here use it at 20%. I've found that even 10% adds harness and lather.

    Recipe suggestions

They're all beautiful, but my favorites are the black & gray and blue & green. Did you make those with your "side pour"? If so, I'd love to know exactly how you did it. I want to try it at home too!

    Post your Gripe

You're not a loser!!! The first trimester is so hard!!! I think it's a triumph just to get through the day in your first trimester, not to mention all the added Covid stress there is these days. Hopefully you'll be feeling more energetic soon, but if not, please be kind to yourself!! ☺
