Beer and dragons, what a night!

The peace, love & Beer soap is for my grandpa. Right before Notre Dame would take the field he would say "I want peace & love in this house and bring me a beer". It was his way of saying shut up while the game was on lol. The 2 holiest days of the year in my grandparents house were Irish game...

    Hi

None of the additives that you are using will cause a lot of lather but I'm not sure about using clay with the other things you have listed. You will just have to try adjusting your percentages until you get a lather number that you like.

    Allergies—Learning to Make Soap

Lots of good advice so far. I would suggest high oleic safflower oil or high oleic sunflower oil, instead of rice bran oil. Just because they are less prone to rancidity and DOS (dark orange spots) and the safflower oil is not expensive, you can get 32ozs on Amazon for $9. I personally don't...

    Loofah seed oil

I would say you have close to $200 retail in those soaps +/- $20. So yeah that is a hell of deal. Plus that is a lot of weight. If I used an average of 3ozs per bar, you would have close to 9 pounds of soap, again +/- 2 pounds. I hope it isn't going very far lol.

    Loofah seed oil

I will also add that even if you had something to press the oil out, it could take anywhere from 1 pound to a 1,000 pounds to even get maybe an ounce. Depends on how much oil is contained in the seeds, plus some seeds need special treatment to even get the oil out.

Vegetable shortening vs Palm in soap?

I have never really noticed a difference in the hardness or longevity of palm vs shortening. They have both preformed equally and the shortening has never affected my colors in any way.

    Loofah seed oil

No/yes if you had a roller press or some kind of extrusion expeller to get the oil out, then yes you could use the seeds but if you don't have any way to press the oil out of the seed then they are only good for growing more. It takes a lot of pressure to squeeze the oil out of a seed.

Grease or glycerin spots in soap?

It really doesn't have anything to do with soaking your clay in oil perse. It has more to do with what clay is rather than what is used with it. I personally believe that it has to do with the alkalinity and purity of the clay but I can't prove that. Just be assured that you are not the only...

With the right stamp, you can stamp cured soap

I have experienced the same thing that you have. I took a very small jewelry file to one of my stamps and tapered the edges to a finer point and it works great on 1-2 month old soap but I had difficulty with older soaps like you did. However I found a way around the older soap by heating it up...

    Sheep milk soap recipe

First if you have never used any milk in a soap recipe, I would highly recommend that you research using milk because using liquid milk can be a very trying experience. I use powdered milks because the powdered version does not come with all the problems of the liquid milk. The other thing you...

Grease or glycerin spots in soap?

That could be glycerin but it also could be a result of the clay that you used. To me it looks like the results of the clay. There are plenty of threads on the forum that have been related to problems being caused by the clay that they used. And yours looks like theirs.

    Hi

The first question I will ask is why you want to lower the amount of lather? Most people love a lot of lather. To your particular question, you could lower the amount of the particular ingredient that is causing the lather. Just change the percentages of each ingredient on your soap calculator...

Wooden soap mould suggestions in India

Welcome to the forum and soap making. I'm not from India but you might try Ali. Since you are much closer to China than we are, you might get it quicker. Or if you know someone who works with wood (carpenter) you have one made.

    Acceleration and almond oil

I believe that it may be this particular brand of almond oil because I have used other brands and never had a problem like this. However I wanted to check and see other people's experiences because the best knowledge is when you can admit that you don't know the answer.

    Acceleration and almond oil

I was wondering the same thing but it doesn't list anything other than almond oil. Which doesn't mean that there isn't anything else in it. It doesn't matter which FO I use either. I guess I will have to do a better job of ordering so I don't run out of safflower.

    Recycling bottles??

@SoapM0m there really is no way to do what you want. I share your concerns about creating more plastic that could end up in a landfill or the ocean. What you can do is encourage your customers to recycle, offer to recycle it for them or offer a small discount for someone who brings the used...

    White spots on soap

Can you provide your total recipe. They could be stearic spots or air bubbles. They look like air bubbles to me. Do you use a stick blender to stir everything?

    Homemade Vanilla Stabilizer?

The picture shows a soap that I used ZCS in. The only difference being that I force gelled one and not the other. I have seen this happen with some other discoloring FO's that I used with ZCS but after a few days of curing the color disappeared. It leads me to believe that force gelling helps...

    Preventing gel phase?
