Feels like last Christmas was yesterday.

    Advice with an Etsy problem?

I've started always going to the one and two star reviews first. It's usually easy to tell the ones that are real.

    POS systems

I just use Square (just for record keeping purposes), or Zettle or something. Usually Zettle because it's business prices are really good but it doesn't allow me to just record "Venmo" as the sales location without actually having the charge go through venmo. You'd understand what I mean if you...

What to label "lard" on ingredient list?

Terrible way to write that. I'm not entirely sure what the point of it is.

    Soap wire cutter

Mine is a 12 bar cutter but I always cut 18 bars on it. It's actually quite easy but maybe it's just me.

Now I know what you talk about

I don't like them much. They smell good but I find them inferior quality to alot of other small soap businesses.

What soap boxes should I use?

Put the minimum amount that it will weigh on the label. You can get boxes and the like from alot of businesses including Wholesale Supplies Plus but they are more expensive than just using shrink bags that you can also purchase from them. I make my own boxes with my cricut because it's about a...

What soap boxes should I use?

In the US, you need to list your full address UNLESS you have your address somewhere public like an online phone book, your website, etc. Rather, it needs to be the address of wherever the product is made.

    Lard

lol, yeah, I love the smell of meat. Comes from growing up with my dad. He always came home smelling that way and the store always smelled wonderful to me. Made me hungry. He makes the best beef jerky in the world. My dad's retired now, but oh I miss his jerky. It's so much better than anything...

    Lard

My dad's a butcher/meat cutter. I wouldn't render my own fats at home. While it smells wonderful to me, you will never get it out of any clothing or items lol. It's in their for good.

    Cold pressed oils? Refined butters?

I've used both. Honestly, I use whatever is cheapest most of the time unless I have something specific I'm doing that requires a more white color. If Olive oil ever comes down in price again, I'd like to go for a lighter color if I can find it, even though it costs more.

    New to Soapmaking… Crumbly Soap

The lye amount is fine. 1:1 would be 8.4 water to 4.2 lye. But you have alot of hard oils in comparison to soft oils. Coconut oil and tallow are considered hard oils. Olive oil is a soft oil. Hard oils are oils that are solid at room temperature. Try making the mix 60% hard oils and 40% soft.

    Copious clay

People do use clay masks so that would make sense. Cool experiment. Does make me wonder what it would be like. I don't see it hardening but I could be wrong.

Opinions on Gift Basket creation for Christmas sales?

I came back with 5 boxes today that are absolutely adorable. About the size of a shoe box but not as tall. I was thinking of doing that one gingerbread, and then getting these other ones that are a different design but the same size for the peppermint. Have to order some gingerbread though. I...

I've never heard of them. Their reviews online seem to be 50/50.
