Help - Cold Process - soap is condensating after packaging

Happens all the time here - summer or winter - due to our humid climate in New Zealand. I eventually just bought a dehumidifier for my soap curing room.

    Rice Bran Oil Soap

I don't think there's such a thing as high oleic RBO. It's fairly low oleic compared to lots of other oils.

Where did you learn to soap?

Same as @justsomeguy ^ My first soap was made from a recipe online, and I didn't use a soap calculator 😲 but I lived to tell the tale. I put it through soapcalc retrospectively and it was an OK recipe (only 27% lye concentration though). Since learning more through the folks on here I've...

CP Shave soap - soy wax

Any with high stearic - but there-in lies your issue. High stearic are better hot processed. My shave soap is pretty good for a CP, but will never be as good as an HP with more stearic.

Soaps causing skin problem on hands

First time I made it I added a little superfat, but it was slimy, so the next batch I did as I was told!

CP Shave soap - soy wax

I would probably use extra avocado oil to replace the RBO - but it's very expensive. The reason I use the RBO is because it's relatively high on palmitic and low on oleic - and it's super cheap here. I think avocado is similar in its fatty acid profile from memory. Of course - recalculate your...

CP Shave soap - soy wax

I was surprised to discover when I sent it out for testing that a lot of men don't give two diggedies about how thick their lather is. They either use a bought can of shave foam, or use regular bathroom soap when shaving. There are a few 'wet shaving aficionados' who buy a proper shave soap...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I've made it before (for new mums).

CP Shave soap - soy wax

Compared to an HP shave soap made with stearic acid, or compared to my regular soap? It's less stable than the former, and more stable than the latter.

CP Shave soap - soy wax

Here you go: I use aloe as the water content.

CP Shave soap - soy wax

I will have a look at my recipe tonight after work and post a reply for you. Do you use dual lye?

    “What is this soap for?”

I make one base recipe, and ZNSB. I use them both for all parts of the body. If people ask me if they can use it on their face, I always reply that I use it on MY face, but if they want to use it on theirs, that's up to them. No guarantees, as everyone is so different. Luckily for me - I have...

Soaps causing skin problem on hands

@QuietWorker those two soaps are not representative of what we make as cold processed soap makers. Please don't let them put you off. We are all here to help when you dive in.

    Avocado, Almond, Olive

Of the three, I prefer avocado oil due to its high palmitic value, and it feels good on the skin. I don't use any nut oils for the same reason as @Kari Howie. My recipe does not have any palm oil or animal fat so i rely on picking up a bit of extra palmitic where I can. My recipe uses 20%...

    Soap Ranges

Yes they do matter - they all have different attributes. However, the recipe you have above should make a reasonably good soap. Give it a go and let us know! :)

Tried to make a lotion bar

Here you go: Mine were soft when I started out with 1/3 wax, 1/3 butter and 1/3 oils. I adapted the recipe to add 5% carnauba wax which is very firm, and then replaced the Shea butter with mango to make it less greasy, plus a bit of either cocoa OR kokum butter, they act similarly. You can see...

Tried to make a lotion bar

I second the mango butter ^ it absorbs so much better than shea. So does apricot kernel and meadow foam.
