Is homemade laundry soap ok for septic?

Ok, I was just going to get around to making laundry soap today (I have 10+ pounds of rebatch shreds and quit soapmaking so am trying to find another use for all this soap). We have a septic tank and we do have to get special toilet paper and things, so I am just wondering if the laundry soap...

Other uses for rebatch shreds/ bars of soap?

I have about 10 pounds of rebatch soap shreds that I bought, in addition to probably another 10 or so pounds of soap that I made that I thought was ugly and won't use for anything. Due to time constraints with the kids, I am abandoning soap making for the time being. What can I do with all...

    Ahhhhhhh.......this mommy wants to scream!!!

That's pretty much how it is here I have 2 active boys 2.5 and 10 months. I have pretty much abandoned soap for the time being - just can't do it! Something happens literally every 30 seconds around here. I still try to do candles but it will take me an entire day to make a votive. When it...

    Golden Brands 464 Soy Wax

Hi there, My votives are poured at 135 - the cooler I pour the better they come out, but I still usually fill them almost to the top, then poke holes and top them off. Same deal for the pillars (3" diameter).

    Golden Brands 464 Soy Wax

That is the one that I use I love it. The scent throw is amazing. Every candle comes out perfect. Never any cracks or anything. I got a little too laid back with the wax since it was doing such a great job all the time and in my haste to get a bunch of Christmas candles done, I poured a...

    Adding fresh ingredients?

Can you use fresh ingredients when you rebatch? These pumpkin and avocado soaps sound so good. I only rebatch though - I'm thinking I can't use it because the lye needs to do something to the food so it won't spoil?

Dollar Store Bags and Soap Fairies

This is what my rebatch instructions said I'm sorry you had such a miserable rebatch experience! Here is a modified version of what my rebatch instructions said to do - the only thing I changed from it is adding a lot more milk. Sometimes I have the soap grated, sometimes I just cut it up...

    First soaps (rebatch)

These are my first soaps and they are rebatch soaps. My first attempts (last on this page) were too rustic looking (not a look I really like) but they are getting smoother with practice. 1. Chocolate Brownie Soap This was a rebatch that I had rebatched a total of 3 times! The only where...

    My blueberry soap is green!

Did your soap have a tinge of yellow to it? Same thing happened to me when I tried to get blue - it came out green. Then when I thought about it, I realized that my soap base color was actually more yellow-y than white. Yellow + Blue=Green... at least 4 years of art school did not totally go...

so, Im really starting to like remilling soap!*updated 1/7*

You have given me rebatch hope- how'd they get so smooth? I only do rebatch, but I am really not a big fan of the rustic look. I thought that smooth wasn't possible with rebatch soaps but if I could get my soaps as smooth as yours, I'd be in heaven! I'd love to hear any tips you have to get...

Why are my soy votives turing into wax puddles within hours?

Yes, I burn them in glasses The glasses are fairly wide, but I guess it would keep the heat in and make it melt like that. I'll try burning one in open air, hopefully that will solve the issue. Thanks!

Why are my soy votives turing into wax puddles within hours?

I have been making soy votives and they do not burn for more than an hour or two before totally melting. I am using the Eco Soya Pillar Blend (which is supposed to be for both votives and pillars). Luckily, the votive melts down and I can just reuse the wax for another votive that will...

    Soap gift basket

I really love the way you wrapped your soaps. I think that pink damask pattern is just beautiful. I am a terrible pricer as well so can't help you much there, but I think it is a gorgeous presentation.

Whipped Shea Butter in a tin?

Thanks! I'll start using the tins and skip the glycerin.

Whipped Shea Butter in a tin?

I would love to package my whipped shea butter in aluminum tins (like the ones used for travel candles). It is a mix of shea butter, some oils (jojoba, almond, etc.) fragrance and cornstarch. Would those ingredients cause the tin to rust, or are they ok in there? I have seen shea butter...

Made first batch of soap (from rebatch) - Newbie questions

Thanks Anne-Marie, I think I will try out the melt and pour base as well, I suppose I don't always need to stick to the same stuff anyway, it will be nice to have variety.

Made first batch of soap (from rebatch) - Newbie questions

I made my first batch of soap. I ordered a rebatch kit, melted it down with a little milk and powdered milk. I wanted baby blue swirls with strands of purple, but it somehow turned out mint green/ pale yellow and marbled. I have no idea why this happened since I used blue and a bit of red...
