    Evaporation of Fragrance

Where do you get your Lemon Verbena from? That's one of my FAVORITE scents, and I haven't really found one online yet that I've been satisfied with!

    Evaporation of Fragrance

I generally make my soap in the crock pot. After the "cooking" is complete, I try and let it rest a few minutes and then add the FO to the mix before moving it to the mold. Typically, my house ends up full of a wonderful aroma, but not enough of it makes it into the soap. I figure the problem...

    donating soap

When you've donated the soap, have they assigned a value to it, or only receipted the number of bars you donated? If they did assign a value to it - what have they said each bar is worth?

    1st CP soap

Great job! Just imagine how how amazing your soap will come out once refine your new-found craft! Glad to hear that your first batch came out so well. If you're any bit like me, consider trying hot-process too. It's kinda like making soap and cooking at the same time. I'm a little...

Latest Soap Try - White Spots

Thanks for the input. It's definitely not zappy; actually quite the opposite. It was overwhelmingly soapy, so I guess it's not a lye issue. I did scrape the sides of the crockpot a little, so I suspect you are right, and that is the cause. I'll have to be more careful next time! Thanks!

Latest Soap Try - White Spots

Yesterday (before everyone gave me the great input on loaf trimming), I made a HP batch with 12 oz Coconut Oil (76 deg), 12 oz Palm Oil, 6 oz Canola Oil, 3 oz Castor oil, 3 oz Sweet Almond oil. Based on soapcalc, these should come out to be very well balanced bars of soap. (INS was spot on...

    Loaf Cutting

I have been using a lined wooden mold lately, doing some HP soap making. One thing I notice is that the outer edges of the loaf, when finished, aren't that smooth....especially the top! I can cut the loaf into individual bars just fine, but I'm finding that, after I do that, I end up...

    Second Try Success!

I wasn't thrilled with the outcome of my first CP attempt, but I really feel like my second one was a smash success. http://yfrog.com/0wimg0793wj These are Apple Cinnamon tea bars. I boiled 32 oz of water and then threw 4 bags of apple cinammon tea in there and let it steep for 12...

    CP Soap Sticks to Teflon!?!?!?!?

Lye is one of the means people use to remove teflon from cookware, so using it for the purpose you are using it may not work out well unfortunately. Lye does react with teflon, and the amount that's in there when you pour your soap in there is probably enough to get the interesting outcome...

    Newbie Troubles

Those videos were extremely helpful, thanks! I'll definitely have to give that a shot. Basically, I'd like to be able to make a good number of bars at the same time. For the batch I'm making today, I'm recycling a box I received some supplies in. The box is 11x8.5x5.5, so I've lined the...

    Newbie Troubles

After checking it this morning and still finding it zappy, I had just about given up, figuring I'd come home tonight and start all over again. To my surprise, when I got home after an evening out, the soap was not zappy at all. It's still too soft to get out of the mold, so I'm going to...

    Newbie Troubles

The stick blender arrived today, but I was really eager to make an attempt yesterday, so I endured the hand-stirring yesterday. As far as the flavor of the soap....There's a distinctive soapy flavor to it, but there's also a very definitive tongue-tingling battery-licking sensation to it...

    Newbie Troubles

Hi! I've played with MP soaps a few times, and while fun, I wanted to take it a step further, so I tried CP for the first time last night. I've tried to read as much as I can online, but I still think I've managed to do something wrong. The recipe I used was: 12.8 oz Coconut Oil (76 deg)...
