    Seaweed Powder in Soap?

Just wondering if anybody has used seaweed powder in soap, and if you would recommend it. It looks like it has good qualities on the skin, but i'm not sure if it would work in a soap or not.

    Abominations!

Abominations is definitely my favorite word when it comes to something i mucked up. I'll definitely tell the soap gremlins to bugger off while I continue on my soap makingness

    100% Coconut 20% SF Soap

I think what carebear meant was that it doesn't factor the superfat into the attributes of the end bar like hardness, creaminess, etc. It does discount the lye for you and tells you how much to use though, it just doesn't show how the SF will affect how the bar of soap turns out.

    100% Coconut 20% SF Soap

Thanks carebear! I'm totally going to try it! I just looove shea butter. I want to add it to all my soaps lol :)

    100% Coconut 20% SF Soap

I wanna try doing 85% coconut, 10% shea butter and 5% grapeseed. Will that work with a 20% SF too? if not, what SF should I use to ensure that it won't be too drying?

    Abominations!

Thanks! It was definitely easier pouring the soap into the green mold rather than trying to pour it into each individual little mold. I'm still waiting on my wooden log mold, but until then it's silicone all the way!

    Abominations!

Maybe if I hate them even after curing I'll keep a bar of each anyways, in a ziplock bag or something so that I can keep one always to remind myself of my first batches :)

    Abominations!

Thank you so much everyone! You have all given me such wonderful advice :) The only soap that smells really bad is #2 lol. It smells pretty gross! I'm loving the silicone cake mold so far. It's probably going to be tons easier to unmold compared to the individual ones!

    Abominations!

Love it! I love competitions like that. It gives everyone a chance to laugh at themselves. There's something similar on a knitting forum I'm on called Ravelry. For really really fugly knitted things. So awesome. Thanks for linking the thread!

    Abominations!

Thanks! The good thing about the abominations is that I have learned something from each of them :) I'm starting to get the hang of it, and I'm almost positive that the batch I made tonight is going to turn out nicely :) At least... I certainly hope so!

    Abominations!

I finally got around to take pictures of the soap that I have done so far! Here's the first one, which was 65% palm, 25% coconut and 10% shea butter. As you can see, it didn't play nice with the molds, so it's a little mutilated. Here's the second batch I made. It's 40% lard, 20%...

    Back to Basics for Ganiggle!

hehe I'm still working on it! I had to clean the soap pot and other stuff, so I'm just about to mix up the lye :) I didn't have much olive oil yet, so I ended up adding 10% shea butter to the recipe. It's not going to end up being a super simple recipe after all :(

I am also loving the sheep soap! I'm an avid knitter, and can always appreciate a good wool-bearing animal :)

    Back to Basics for Ganiggle!

Hey everyone! Although my first few batches haven't turned out all that great, I'm pressing on and trying an easier recipe like some of you recommended. It's 5am and I haven't gone to bed yet(I'm usually up until 7, don't be concerned) lol. I'm going to make a batch of 70% olive, 25% coconut and...
