    First attempt at In-The-Pot Swirl

I think ITP swirls are my favorite too. I always love the soft swirled look. Did you blend your own Pink grapefruit and bergamot? WSP has a pink grapefruit and bergamot EO/FO blend that is really nice. I have some curing now :-)

    Do/would you sell crackled soap?

Thanks everyone...I feel much better about showing these off now. I will sell them proudly and without apology! :-) I just got my oil only TD in yesterday and made a couple batches with it today. Tomorrow morning is the unveiling ;-)

    Do/would you sell crackled soap?

Thanks, I guess I am regarding the crackle as a soaping "fail", which then makes me feel like is is somehow subpar. As far as my product goes, I am very confident in the soap itself...I am just stuck on this crackling issue!

    Do/would you sell crackled soap?

Anyone who is familiar with my previous posts knows that I have long battled glycerin rivers and crackled soap. I'm am nearly batty with frustration, as I am having no luck trying to isolate the problem. As another member previously suggested, I am trying to just go with it and embrace the...

    Location of "Soap" on Labels?

Soapsense, I love the cameo. It's a little bit addictive, so I have been spending about as much time on it as I have soaping lately. Yes, the cameo lets you print on the paper first (with a separate printer), then you run the paper through the cameo for cutting. No, my boxes aren't a template. I...

SFIC Low Sweat Base - I don't like it!

I just ordered a few pounds of the regular sfic base. I'll post an update if I notice a difference between the two.

Where do you cure your soaps?

I was lucky enough to find this bakery cart and pans for a great price on craigslist. I just lay down a sheet of freezer paper between the soap and the pan. I can write the date and any other notes/ingredients right on the freezer paper. I am always on the lookout for another one because I just...

Measuring for my mold - what did I do wrong?

When you entered your numbers into the lye calculator, are you sure you didn't enter the total batch weight instead of the total oil weight? I recently made that mistake and ended up with a 7 pound batch instead of 5 pounds.

    Location of "Soap" on Labels?

Thanks for all the great ideas...I will play around with it a bit and see what looks best. Never enough hours in the weekend to get it all done, and now it's Monday again! Grrrr

    Location of "Soap" on Labels?

Oh DeeAnna, that's such a great way of looking at it, too. I hadn't thought of the symbolism of a pail of water. Makes me like my little handmade boxes that much more! :-)

Is it my recipe or the silicone?

I think it was 1 tsp for a 2lb batch, but it's been a while so I could be wrong. I'm eager to see how the 2:1 water discount works.

    Location of "Soap" on Labels?

Yep, born and raised. I'm always amazed at how many people don't recognize the arch, so it's nice when someone from outside the region does! Thanks for the feedback and your perspective. It's easy to get tunnel vision when working on something, and I never even considered that someone might not...

    Location of "Soap" on Labels?

Thanks, it's been a work in progress for a while, but I enjoy it. The real pain has been that I use different molds, so I have to keep tweaking the dimensions for different batches.

    Show Your Mess!

LOL now I feel much better!

    Location of "Soap" on Labels?

I have been working on a new soap box design. I have a Silhouette Cameo paper die cut machine, which has been fun to play with, but I have spent just about as much time on packaging lately as I have the actual soap! I am really pleased with my design, but I hate having to stick the word "Soap"...

    Show Your Mess!

That explains the pretty green grass I was drooling over. Everything is cold and dead here at the moment...the polar vortex has taken its toll on me this winter and I am in full blown spring fever mode!

Good point, DeeAnna...I guess I will fin a way to fit it in :-)

SFIC Low Sweat Base - I don't like it!

I made the mistake of ordering a large quantity SFIC low sweat white and clear base, but I really don't like them! They are difficult to melt, little flecks never seem to melt, and I find the finished bar kind of crumbly and flaky. Overall, they have been very difficult to work with and I don't...

    Location of "Soap" on Labels?

Good timing, I just thought of a related question the other day. If the word "Soapworks" is in the company/brand name on the front of the label, would that suffice? I sometimes struggle to find the physical space for "Soap" on the label. Just a thought?
