So, I made a batch of salt bars a week and a half ago. Caved in and tried one last night. While using it it felt a little different but I figured it was because of the salt. After using it and once it dried it has white patches on it. My skin seems fine though.

How safe is the "zap test"? I never really thought about it until now. It just seems if the lye is still active or "heavy" in the soap it's not too safe to put your tongue on it.

This was only my third batch of soap so it's possible I'm worried about nothing and all this is normal, just thought I would check.

Okay here are the best pics I was able to get.
I did do the zap test and just got a yucky soap taste! no zap though!

A little hard to tell, but IMO that is just salt crystals forming on the surface. Do they rub off with your finger? My salt bars grow crystals if the atmosphere is humid in the bathroom.

Tanya :)

ok. Sorry for the panic! Between that and the feeling when I used it I just wanted to double check!
Thanks!
