Hi again,

Just wondering do soaps turn on off yellow?
The soaps I have made without colour look great at first but over time are turning an off white and starting to look more like the colour of the oils that go in...is this normal??

could be that they are turning rancid. is it coloring in spots or all over?

some do seem to shift in color. did you use any fragrance material? what base oils did you use?

or yea, could be rancidity sneaking up on you. how old are the soaps?

Soap color can change quite a bit during the curing process depending on your ingredients. But yes in general yellow oils will produce yellowish soap. Using a lighter olive oil and/or higher percentages of Palm, Coconut, Lard etc will produce whiter soaps as will adding a small amount of titanium dioxide.

If white soap is what you want there are tons of threads here on that topic.

ETA: I should qualify the above to say that there are MANY things that can impact the color of your soap including some fragrances and other additives. But all other things being equal I believe what I said holds true.

Thanks all.
I've gone over alot of forums and realised my yellow soaps was me storing it in a bright sunny room with temps of about 25degrees!!!!!!!
Well i'm hoping this is what the problem was!!!!!
I think thats what you call rancid.
