And it was a lot of fun but messier then I thought it would be. I just did a plain castile to start. I had intended a batch of castile and a batch of the recipe I posted yesterday, but I had more castile then I thought I would, so I ended up using both my molds. Here's the mold pics. Lesson learned: SEAL the dang Pringles can. Hello, I did watch soaping101 and I've been reading about soap making for many years, you think I would remember to do everything right. Wrong! (No surprise there, right?) :D There's more on the blog if you're interested. I keep notes for myself there.

I love love love that swirl! I can't wait to see it all cut!

Thank you! I'm surprised you all like that swirl so much. I didn't think you'd all get so excited over plain white soap. I'm glad you like it, I will post cut pics when it's done. Hoping to get a new chip for my camera here soon so I can take better pics. iPhone doesn't cut it.

I think they like to encourage us newbie soapers. We are in good company here.

Hmmmm, just checked it, I sprayed it liberally with 91% rubbing alcohol to prevent sh (was that even necassary0? Now got tons of tiny bubble holes on the surface. Is it from the alcohol I wonder?

Hmm I wonder... maybe it adds to the overall aesthetic effect? I'd like to see pics!

Here they are. I photoshopped them a lil bit to get the dots to show up bette,r but I think you will get the idea. They are jsut like mini speckled breaks all over the top.

Did you pound your mold on the counter to release air bubbles immediately after pour? Sometimes doing fluffy tops will make some air bubbles under the surface, but I seem to get them if I lay Saran Wrap over the wet alcohol spritzed top.

Congratulations on your first batch! It's about **** time! ;)

Yeah i pounded it but maybe not hard enough. I also think the alcohol spritz dried it some - I really soaked it. But it's okay. I like it and they are firming up nicely. So later or tomorrow I will work on the other one using multiple oils. If that one goes well then I will order the oils I actually want to make soap with.
