Just a word to the wise. If you do saran & do not then place it in a box or cello bag, people will be compelled to dig into the soap w/ their fingernail for no good reason. It's like a compulsion or something  .

I own a craft mall & one of my vendors paints antique tin squares like you see on ceilings of historic building. Daily I have someone who is compelled to scratch the paint of with their nail while saying "is this antique tile or a reproduction?" Go figure. I think all humans are compulsive obsessive on a level.

okay, now that's just disturbing. Thanks for telling me these things Tabitha, I wouldn't have guessed on my own. I'm totally opposite of that, I barely even lightly touch something unless I plan to go ahead and purchase it. I guess I'm a respecter of property... Anyways, I'll be ordering some cello bags now, pronto. And maybe I should put up a sign at my table, "You squish it, you bought it." Okay, just kidding.

Oh yes, and just wait, at every show there is athe lady who will open a jar of lotion, stick her finger in it, rub it all over & say "Oh gawd, that smells aweful" place the lid back on it & walk off. You will meet some real jewels....LOL!

Tab - You could shrink wrap the lotion jars... I'm thinking of doing that for my upcoming show.

That's why I now shrink wrap my products. It's not 100% fool proof, but it does help.

I use the bands on jar lids, but not always. I have had ladies get mad because the bands are on, they give me a dirty look break the seal & pull the lid off anyway. Some people are just *different*.

I cut my shrink wrap myself. 8) I use 200ga. shrink wrap tube, 4" wide. I cut them on my paper cutter. I cut them 4-1/2" long. When I place my 3 sides cigar band under the wrap, it shrinks well and keeps the label and the bar free from damage. The ends are exposed a little bit to get air and let the customers smell my product. I print my labels 4 to the sheet, and buy the roll of tubing that is 1300 feet long. It will last me several years! I have less than $.02 cents per wrapped bar. The actual cost of the shrink wrap jacket is 1/4 of 1 penny each! That's right 4 shrink wrap tubes for 1 cent!

Paul....

Paul - may I ask where you purchase this shrink wrap?

At this time I am only making soap for my personal use and to give as gifts, but nonetheless I wanted a nice presentation for my soaps. I work p/t as a barrista for a local coffee bean roaster and I am taking the huge burlap bags that the beans get shipped in from around the world and cutting them and stitching them into pouches! Of course, I think they will be particularly cute for the coffee soap  kel

I did beer soap like that a couple years back, in the bulap bags. It made for a nice men's gift.

Brian, so sorry for not responding sooner. I bought if from a company in Kansas City, MO. I'll try to find the link for you. I have a ton. Do you want me to send you a couple feet? I would be happy to do it!

Paul.... :)
