Hi friends! Hope you, and your soap batches 😅 are well. Quick question, what kind of paper do you guys usually wrap your soaps with? Im interested in biodegradable papers, the ones I have available are silk paper, very thin that absorbs the moisture or a kraft paper, one side of the kraft is slightly shinier with an absorption barrier. Any feedback will be of extreme value. Just started out soap-making. Thank you and have a great day.

Thank you! will definitely be looking into that
Sorry, had to answer quick earlier. I tried wrapping mine. Then we had a HUGE rainstorm during a market. My whole wagon fell off the sidewalk into a several inches deep puddle of water that had accumulated on the side of the road. I lost about $300 worth of product. So I don't wrap anything in paper anymore. The soaps will survive but it's alot easier to replace a few cardboard boxes and wrap most of what I have in plastic than it is to use paper and the like. It looks like it's eco healthy and the like but I found have just found it easier not to worry about it.

Disclaimer first - I am a hobbyist making soap for me, friends and family, only doing 2 events a year, so my process isn’t for anyone making bulk.
I buy a ream of Kraft paper, print on the duller side (6 soaps per page) and then cut them and wrap only the bottom 1/3 of the soap. I like it for my soaps and the look I am going for.
Your story makes me sad, @MelissaG - I probably would have sat in the puddle and cried.

Melissa, that must have been a terrible experience. I can only imagine all the trouble you went through during and after the storm. sorry to hear that. thank you for your sharing your story. For now I wont be selling any soaps. But when the time comes, I’ll take your experience into consideration. Happy you found a better way to keep your beautiful soaps free from any weather adversities.

Hi soap maker friend, I just ordered the kraft paper, I like the idea of wrapping it 1/3 of the soap like you described. Thank you for sharing your method. :)

I nearly did. I was almost ready to just leave but I decided to stay with what I could save and sell it. But oh that hurt. That $300 was my cost, not the customers.
