My BIL made me a wooden loaf mold for Christmas, I love it.. So I made some soap and poured it right in the mold, no liner. It held the soap and didn't leak, but now I am afraid that the soap will stick to the wood! I didn't think of this before... Has anyone done this, and how successful were you?

Yikes!! You really should always line a wooden mold. I have never not lined one, but I can imagine the fun you are going to have trying to get your soap out. Eeek!

he sounds like quite a guy! what a sweetie, and CLEVER with thhhhhhhe hinges!

i'm wondering if you could put a good coating of urethane or plastic type clear coating, if it would stand up to the lye? or at least put mylar or waxed paper on the bottom?

i've always lined my wooden molds with butcher's waxed paper.
