Will my soap be white?

I'm making my next batch with distilled water for the first time. Oils are coconut,crisco (vegetable), olive oil and castor oil. What color should I expect. I know vanilla fragrance is a no no.

If you don't add anything else, then your soap will most likely be white to slightly off white.

It won't be blindingly white, more of a creamy or slightly off white.

If you want very white, you would need to add a colorant like titanium dioxide.

Also your FO or EO may discolor your soap slightly even if it's not vanilla-based.

I used the same ingredients in my first batch last night. Crisco w/ Palm Oil 40%, Coconut oil 30%, Olive oil 20%, Castor Oil 10%. It turned a pumpkiny color?! Hope it lightens as it cures. We should talk more about this because were using the same ingredients. I would love to see what yours looks like and and post pictures of mine as soon as it hardens. I'm trying for a white soap too using those ingredients still. Let me know what you find out!

I suspect the culprit is the "beauty oil" you used for scent.

Or unrefined palm oil? Very pumpkin-y.

I never use Crisco at home. (And it is an honest statement, not being sarcastic or anything). Do they use unrefined palm oil in some versions?

Crisco can impart a pinkish cast to soap, but pumpkin-colored? Did you use an FO? Many will discolor your soap, especially if they contain vanilla. Most foody scents do.
