Wick help, please!

I am using IGI 4627 Comfort blend wax. My container is a 12 oz salsa jar which is about 3.5" wide. I used a LX 24 wick (as recommended by Candlescience) for the first test. After 5 hours I did not have a full melt pool. I tried 3 LX 10 which created an almost full melt pool in about 30 minutes but produced a lot of soot which made the wax dirty. Fragrance load is 10% (I like strong candles). Any suggestions on what to try next?

Good for you! - doing a burn test.
I am guessing you got your supplies from CandleScience? I would call them next and see what they might recommend next. I know from personal experience sometimes what they have on their chart as the best wick, just doesn't work.
Best wishes - sometimes it is so frustrating trying to find the right container/wick/wax combination.

This is so true! I've been struggling to find the right combination for tea candles (Ihaven't made them before) for someone who wants their candles to be "clean" - no soot, no paraffin, no wax odour, using their scents, ... I may decide to stop trying.
